    Stoopid question???

How about mounting the second one beside the original on the back? Attach it via to the chassis and mount the regestration plate on one of the wheels instead.

    Freelander Annual Service Cost

Hi Could anybody please tell me the annual service cost for a Freelander 1? It's a 2000 TD4. Many thanks in advance

    Contemplating a 2001 Freelander 1.8 LPG

It's going to be a second car for use around and about town to replace the Modus which does just that. It's more practical and a bit more fun. We already have a Discovery 3 TDV6 used for serious off-roading and everything else one might feel the Freelander lacks. We've done a lot of research...

    Contemplating a 2001 Freelander 1.8 LPG

Hi It has a full service history and all of the services (bar one) have been done at main Land Rover dealers. It had a complete new gearbox fitted at 50k so that can only be a good thing, right? He claims the price would be £5300 if I upgraded to the 3 year warranty. How far do you think I'd...

    Contemplating a 2001 Freelander 1.8 LPG

So, do you think 70k miles is okay for it? Bearing in mind we will only ever add a few thousand on to it as it will be a second car which does no more than 2k miles a year. And how much would you say we should try and haggle off them if we were to go for it? Ideally £500 cheaper would bring it...

    Contemplating a 2001 Freelander 1.8 LPG

Thanks for all the advice. I've certainly heard a few scare stories about the 1.8 which is a bit worrying given we have very little mechanical knowledge. I'd hoped though that the 2 year warranty and 5 year engine guarantee might have covered some of this. I'm interested in the TD4 but would...

    Contemplating a 2001 Freelander 1.8 LPG

Ok, thanks. The TD4 I mentioned above seems very good but I have one question: Is 71, 000 miles too high for a 2000 TD4? Or is this average and acceptable for something this age? Should be we looking for something with less miles than that as it seems quite high? Cheers

    Contemplating a 2001 Freelander 1.8 LPG

Thanks Dave. Regarding the TD4, how does it actually compare to the 1.8? Is it likely to be substantially more reliable? What sort of MPG do you get from it? The attractiveness of the LPG was that it would be 1/2 price running costs, especially when going from a 1.4 Renault Modus. Thanks

Okay, I take it from that you advise against it? Would you say, then, it's worth upping the bid to 5 grand to get this one (at the top of the page) with the TD4 engine (more reliable?) and 12 month warranty? Thanks

    Contemplating a 2001 Freelander 1.8 LPG

Hi We've been doing a fair bit of research into selling our 54 Renault Modus in order to purchase a previous generation Freelander. I've been advised on what to avoid etc. but would appreciate some experts opinions. With the Modus at an approximate value of £4500 we're looking to get a...
