What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced El Cheapo front drop links with APs heavy duty jobbies. Completely shut up the thud, thud that was getting worse. However….. front near side tyre is down to 2.6mm. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Freelander 1 Ye olde front knocking….

Spot the cause - the front bush bolt on the lower offside arm was about 3mm away from the arm face. Took some faffing to get it torqued to 190Nm with tyres on the ground.

Freelander 1 Ye olde front knocking….

AndyFreeLandy - Is it ok to do that, obviously only temporarily. What about the nylock nuts, do you have to put a new one on? Andy Warren - I’ll get the Meyle one anyway. I want it right and the cost is nothing really. I’ll check the top suspension mounts, see if I can get them to make a noise...

Got the ARBs changed. As per the photo they ok to me. Took it for a test; pretty much the same. Dropp link investigation tomorrow weather permitting.

Thanks Dar ran, How would I test that? Front up off floor , wheels off and shake? 👍🏻

Freelander 1 Ye olde front knocking….

Funnily enough, after reading JDs first response, I went and checked the location of the drop links. Easy enough access and I know he put anti seize stuff on when he did them so might order them from AF after I’ve done the ARBs. Thanks Andy, JD.

Freelander 1 Ye olde front knocking….

Thanks JD. What even 5.5k miles limited? Or maybe I bought el cheapo ones. I know Nodge recommends Advanced Factors as a source. 👍🏻

Freelander 1 Ye olde front knocking….

Hi All, TLDR: Front knocking: bushes 14 months old, 5k miles done since. Apologies for the essay. For the past 3/4 months there’s been various knocking/creaks seemingly from the front when going over the usual high quality road surfaces here. In February last year I had the lower front arms with...

    Freelander 1 Bottom radiator hose

Hi All, Change of coolant is coming up, and would like to know which bottom radiator hose to buy in case it’s needed. I think it’s part number PCH116240 but not 100% sure. There doesn’t seem to be one on AF Factors site or British Parts which I’ve used before. Any help would be greatly...

Thanks Andy. Just done the track rod ends as a result of the MOT. Also on the list the fuel tank cradle…..aaaarrgh.

    maybe trouble ahead ????

You need to get yourself a ODB plug and a suitable app for your phone to communicate with it. You can then read off the error codes generated. Or even a dedicated hardware device that’ll do the same. Once you’ve got some codes a Google session will point you in the general direction of the...

    Freelander 1 Door mirror heater

Thanks to all who’ve replied. Had the drivers door mirror off today and the lower bolt head sheared off due to it being rusted in! Got the meter out and checked between all the pins: 5 way Pins 1-2 = 72 ohm 1-3 = Open circuit 1-4 = Open circuit 1-5 = 111 Ohm 2-3 = Open circuit 2-4 = Open...

    Freelander 1 Door mirror heater

Thanks Andy, will have a look tomorrow. From the figures I got earlier, I should get around 125 ohms resistance. 👍🏻

    Freelander 1 Door mirror heater

Thanks Nodge. Had a quick look this morning. This is what I understand from the wiring diagrams: 1. According to the fuse box cover, F3 supplies the mirror heaters and the rear washer. 2. Ignition switch position 2 puts a feed through F3. Got the multimeter out, switched to ignition position 2...
