    Thanks guys. Very helpful. I think I'm going to leave the splash shield and CV joint as they are and just fit the new bearing. If the rust on the CV and hub carrier becomes a problem at least the bolts are new and should be free if I need to undo them again. Question is how long do I really...

    The sign-up process suggested that I should introduce myself. I've had a 54 plate Freelander for a couple of years and it's beginning to cost money. Clutch replacement, noisy wheel bearings, broken window regulators, rusty brake pipes, probably a familiar story... Love the car though.
