Having problems with my original temp gauge so installed a durite electric gauge in the end, 2 gauges later and it’s playing up jumping up to 50 soon as ignition is turned on so now I don’t trust the gauge. going to give in a go with a different brand, so what is everyone using?

This discovery was EDC original but before I bought it someone had converted to normal pump. I have noticed it has no kickdown cable etc so I do wonder if that has anything to do with it! I guess I’ll just live with it for now she only for off roading!

After doing a bit research after disco1BFG comment, I believe that the standard injection pump can’t supply enough fuel top end for the autos hence why EDC was introduced. I have also noticed that my kickdown cable is non existent so this could be a lot of the troubles! Going to put a EGT gauge...

Also just to add - the LR I’m having trouble with is a discovery 1 auto, if I remember correctly the engine came out of a manual defender…

Old thread I know, but can anyone tell me how on earth the durite mechanical temp gauge fits the 300tdi? The durite sender doesn’t even fit in the hole of the thermostat housing on the engine???

Durite temp gauge just arrived, how has everyone installed it to 300tdi? The sender that came with the gauge is far too big for the original 300tdi thermostat housing, won’t even enter the hole

Quick update, timing good, compression good, boost pressure at pump good, boost pressure at manifold good. Only thing that's bugging me is fuel filter only half full but lift pump seems to be working.. but on another thought I know the injection pump has been played with prior to me fitting the...

The only strange thing I've noticed is that fuel filter is only 3/4 full, no flow at feed pipe of injection pump but the engine doesn't seem to be being starved of fuel so I just ignored this. Another thing, the wastegate doesn't seem to move when revved when stationary, didnt know if it would...

Not checked boost pressure at pump, but must be boost pressure at manifold as pipe swells when revving the engine. Not checked the timing as of yet, not got the correct pins at the moment and never really thought to check timing as the engine runs sweet apart from this strange power problem
