    Tachograph @ Disco 2

It absolutely does. A lot of people think they're exempt. Unfortunately if you enter into conversation with DVSA (as I did when trying to make sure I was exempt) it turns out they're wrong. You got away with it - good for you - but so you're warned if there is money involved you need a...

    Tachograph @ Disco 2

I need a tachograph because my train weight is over 3.5t and it's not for personal use. I don't need a DCPC because it's not a bus, coach or lorry and because I am not a professional driver.

Hmmm, first result suggests pin3 ... if it's vss it needs - I just worry about messing something up!

I know right? Pain in the butt! This aside, I have a door actuator that locks but doesn't unlock, a window lock switch that doesn't, a rear window that works both ways on the rear switch and only down on the front switch... grrrr!

    Tachograph @ Disco 2

(and truth be told I specifically bought an older vehicles because the price of a modern digital tachograph + fitting + calibration is likely to set you back best part of 2 grand - which for something I'll probably do a couple of dozen times a year was just not worth it.

It's just a signal wire. As it's < early 06 you can self-fit an analogue one. They can be fitted anywhere as long as you have an LED that indicates it's on. I'm actually thinking of putting it in the otherwise bloody useless door pocket if I can get the wires to flex nicely.

tfft. still don't know which wire though - he's only in Coventry I might just take it up and get him to do it!

    Tachograph @ Disco 2

Well I've not been out to check but a bit of casual googling suggests it does, as does the chap I bought the tachograph from.

    Tachograph @ Disco 2

Well as this is an analogue one, hopefully it's 6 yearly. If I can find the wire...

I'll be triple checking that when I get it calibrated.

    Tachograph @ Disco 2

Yes indeed - whch is why I know there's a wire that needs to be connected to the ODB - but I've spent so long on the phone to him already I'm hoping someone 'just knows' :)

Yeah - I'm not excited at the project.

    Tachograph @ Disco 2

Firstly, let's not worry about the 'do you need one' argument, I do. I know a few people have done this - I have an analogue tachograph to fit to my 04 disco 2. There are some grounds, a permanent live and an ignition live - I reckon I can manage that lot from the body and fuse box. What I'm...

Disco 2: Change the front sunroof motor

*looks around* lots of screws - is that the understatement of the year? *sigh* ok - so next question - has anyone written a handy guide for dropping the head liner?

Disco 2: Drivers door lock actuator

Hi all, This is post 2/2 as I have two problems to fix :) New to me 04 Disco 2. Drivers side door doesn't unlock on the button - needs the key. Locks fine, all others work a-ok - PO (trustworthy guy) reckons it's the actuator. Does this sound right? Any suggestions for how to start...

Disco 2: Change the front sunroof motor

Hi all, This is post 1/2 as I have two problems to fix :) New to me 04 Disco 2. Front sunroof doesn't open - PO (trustworthy guy) reckons it's the motor - I can hear the relay on the switches so sounds fair. What's the procedure to replace the motor - I've heard you can get it out without...
