    I Need Help to make a Decision!! - 2.25 5mb petrol or 2.5n/a diesel????

Tom, Many thanks for your information. Interesting to see your mileage as i was around !5mph. I think this is probably due to the two cylinders running at half compression. Following the advice i have had here, I am going to stick with the 2.25 5 bearing petrol and am taking it to be repaired. I...

    I Need Help to make a Decision!! - 2.25 5mb petrol or 2.5n/a diesel????

Thank you. 200 TDI are hard to find now and i seem to be going towards having the petrol 2.25 rebuilt. Not many people seem to be pushing me towards the 2.2n/a diesel!

    I Need Help to make a Decision!! - 2.25 5mb petrol or 2.5n/a diesel????

Ha Ha! I sometimes think i wouldhate to be behind me on the road! I have a dream of taking a caravan to Europe behind the 109. Everything seems to be leading towards getting the 2.25 5 bearing petrol honed and redone. there is something in the originality of the slowness.!

    I Need Help to make a Decision!! - 2.25 5mb petrol or 2.5n/a diesel????

Dear Wise Men!! I am almost finished restoring my series 2a/3 1970 109'. I currently have a 2.25 petrol 5mb in it. I have been wondering about the fuel economy and lack of power (even for this) that I was experiencing and decided to pressure test it. The results were that 2 of the cylinders were...

First time towing - Dixon Bate Shocklink WANTED

They do seem to do the job, but they are extremely expensive. There is an alternative which i found!! Its called the Flexitow, which is usually for & ton lorries and above but is also suited to a leaf sprung series vehicle. It does the same as the Shocklink, but is £305 instead of north of £600.

First time towing - Dixon Bate Shocklink WANTED

Thanks fir the reply. It’s a well debated topic but seems to be down to the caravan manufacturers to decide. They all say towing without one will invalidate any warranty and also insurance as it puts stress on the chassis ! Trouble is i can’t seem to find one!!

First time towing - Dixon Bate Shocklink WANTED

I have just finished restoring a series 3 109, and I would like to take my caravan to the south of France behind it. As it is obviously leaf springs, i read that a Dixon Bate shocklink is either vital or a waste!! Can anyone help, and does anyone have one for sale? Much appreciated Chris

Many thanks for your reply. I will definitely give him a ring and run through swopping the engines around. The more i think about it, its probably best to do it at his workshop. Will keep you posted.

    Diesel to petrol swap

Rob, sounds like good advice. Im fairly good with basic mechanics, but engines and gearboxes is new territory for me. Being in Central London, one of my problems is space. I have a couple of parking spots and a garage but its difficult for me to leave unfinished projects for more than a day or...

    Diesel to petrol swap

I am in this situation myself now. I have 2.25 diesel and also petrol one both in 109's. Both are 5 bearing. I would like to swop them around as i am mainly cruising and the diesel just doesn't to inclines and my sanity any good. Im hoping the swop to a petrol will give that bit extra up an...
