Other what have u done on ur disco today

Its been a few weeks since I picked up my 1999 d1 v8. I have to say I love it. Compared to my 300tdi d1 is like a rocket. I was slightly worried that I heard the dreaded gurgle behind the dash but, it seems a new expansion tank cap has cured that problem. I had a sniff test and pressure test...

It wasn't a modern massive tractor. I'd say it's an early 80s tractor.

Spending an afternoon at the grandparents farm I ended up using my d1 to tow a tractor out of a ditch. She might be rotten but she still has her uses. The best part of the incident is the driver of the tractor hates landrovers in general. So I will of course never let him forget how a discovery...

A sad week of finding more and more wrong with my old trust Battered d1 it's with a heavy heart I've decided it's time to get rid. Happier news is I'm replacing it with a much better condition d1. Looking forward to picking it up in a weeks time.

Disco 1 Replacing Front Discs 200tdi

Getting the hub off doesn't take long at all. Wheel off, end cap off, circlip and shims off. Drive flange off, Caliper off( I normally hang it off the spring so it's out of the way) then hub lock nut off and lock tab washer followed by the last hub nut. After that it all slides off. Don't loose...

Went to replace my leak off pipes today and discovered 1 of the nipples the pipes push onto had snapped off in the past leaving about 5 mm of metal to hold the pipe on. **** sake! New gubbins ordered and fitted today in between the down pours. I think that's all the hoses for the fuel system...

I also have to do all my repairs outside on the drive way. My only saving grace today was my disco was facing the right way for me to be working in its shadow.

I've been waiting for dry weather to coincide with me not being too busy for weeks. I've had quite a productive day and have 4 wheels on my wagon again. Next job on the list is remove the front propshaft to confirm that is what's causing the vibration and noise. Pretty sure it is the culprit...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Had a busy afternoon so far. Starting with replacing the feed and return fuel lines and bypassing the sedimenter as clearly full of holes. Also stripped the drivers side swivel ball to find its been replaced already with a Teflon coated 1. Also replaced the stub axle as its properly pitted and...

I replace the fuel pipe from lift pump to filter as it had rubbed against a wire and pin holed itself. The smell of diesel after a spot of duel carriageway driving alerted me to it and following the trickle diesel pin pointed the problem. Gotta love it when it's an easy fix.

I have had an all to similar experience with the very same brand. I'll put adding some more thread lock and see how it goes to my list of jobs.

Swapped my lift pump over today. After it not working properly for about 6 months I can honestly say Wow what a difference. I also added a 5mm spacer to it. Will it make it last longer? Will it make it work better? I have no idea but I fitted 1 and it is working great. I'm over the moon as it...

I spent a couple of hours removing some swivel pin shims and fitting a new stub axle along with new tapper bearings to the passenger side. I guess it would have been better to do the swivel bearings at the same time but money and time are a bit tight at the moment. Next on the list is replace...

In the last week I've changed both front and rear out put flanges plus related seals, cleaned oil out of the handbrake drum, replaced the shoes, checked the hub bearings, tightened the fronts and noticed some more jobs that need doing. Noisy fan bearing and seeping swivel seal to name 2 of the...

Had a chance to get my stripped rear propshaft captive bolts changed today. The challenge has been matching a dry day with a day I had some spare time. Very east job all in all. So rear propshaft is back on and on the test drive it felt good. I think the slight vibration that started around...

    300TDI FUEL HELP

It's a fairly quick job from all the reports I've read and there's no need to lift the body. I'll be ordering 10m of fuel line in due course and running from the tank the engine bay and back again. I've definitely got air getting in somewhere before the fuel filter as if I open the bleed screw...
