my freelander was doing this and then few weeks later started smoking and misfiring at around 2,000 revs changed pump and filter in rear wheel arch and problem solved!! Can clearly tell mine is fuel pump just by the sound of the pump

I have the same problem and engine light on as well I think it’s failing fuel pump as can hear mine really struggling might be wrong tho

Sorry didn't realise but I managed to come across the post so someone with the same problem properly will as helping it helps one person out its worth just brought another freelander 2003 kalahar td4 that runs sweet 500 quid so selling the old one on eBay as spares and repairs

Go to bmw dealer and ask for this part number £20.40 Inc vat just brought one today

Does not even want to try and fire with easy start now and hardly any pressure at fuel rail and I've just broke my 5 way fuel pipe connector and been quoted £300 by land rover for all fuel system as don't sell on it own

The O rings on the hp pump or on the regulator?

Not yet was going.to do that next just didn't think it would suddenly stop without warning the car was running OK then all of a sudden it just cut out And Mil light come on....is this usually the case when they need replacing and can see it leaking anywhere

The water pump isn't even that hard to replace I've not long done it and only parts I've changed before is Glow plugs coolant pipe and anti roll bar links.. I used a jack with a but of wood to support and move engine up and down as needed hardest part was getting the metal coolant rail back in...
