Sticky Rear Window after Mechanism change.

So when I got my freelander the entire rear window was broken and the cable had snapped, in the traditional Freelander way. Rather than getting a new cable kit and trying to rework it all myself, there was a nearly new complete mechanism one on ebay. Fitted it today and all works fine, it...

TD4 2006 model Engine mil light comes on between 60-70 miles per hour and freelander chugs!!

It's pretty easy, you can get to it through the driver wheel arch, or easier is to get it up on ramps and you can do it underneath without taking any trim or trays off.

TD4 2006 model Engine mil light comes on between 60-70 miles per hour and freelander chugs!!

Probably your boost solenoid valve. I had the same with mine, it was sticking open so turbo wasn't running 100% efficent. Used to get to 70mph and cause issues. Replaced it and good as new and so much faster. Link below to what solved mine...

Reopened - Operating Temperature Gauge Needle always low

I was skeptical about oil level affecting coolant temp. Maybe now the turbo is working as designed that's producing more heat? Either way, hopefully this thread won't turn into a argument :D

Reopened - Operating Temperature Gauge Needle always low

So, as my previous thread turned into bit of a handbags fighting match i've reopened this after doing some bits today. Thanks to everyone who pointed me in some direction on the other thread, today i've done a full service, replaced the boost solenoid valve and replaced the MAF sensor. Amazing...

    Td4 Lack of power at 70mph - fixed !

Just done this on my new freelander! What a difference, boost now comes in at 2k rpm instead of 3500rpm and cr pulls from low down! No more dangerous guesswork pulling out of junctions and 30 - 50mph is fantastic now. Thanks for this tip and saved me a whole world of pita and cash!

Operating Temperature Gauge Needle always low

As someone with dyslexia i'd like to think i'm a little more intelligent than a glow worm, either way i'm happy with how my lifes panned out so far in 23 years on Earth. But I think i'll stick to doing an oil change and look at getting an inline thermostat. Thanks for all the input though.

Operating Temperature Gauge Needle always low

Are there any side effects of the inline mod? It's safe and doesn't restrict flow at all? Guessing the OEM thermostat isn't an easy drive way job then?

Operating Temperature Gauge Needle always low

That sounds like my issue, it's definitely over filled more so than i'd comfortably fill it up to. Won't be using a flushing agent. Only get the oil up to a warm temperature and letting it drain for a few hours. Does over filling cause any other damage? Engine seems to run spot on. Little...

Operating Temperature Gauge Needle always low

Thanks for the quick reply. That's interesting about the oil level. I had noticed mine as slightly over filled. It had a service just before I bought it, and first thing I checked and noticed the oil level was about 3mm above the 'high' mark. I've ordered everything to do a full service...

Operating Temperature Gauge Needle always low

Hey, I've just got my freelander, and have been surprised at how low the needle always stays? Having a quick search of the forum it seems a common fault is the thermostat seems to stick open? But thought i'd confirm if mine is low or if they're all like this? My needle never moves over the...

    Just got a Freelander TD4

Yeah, I didn't go for anything too serious off road as won't be using it off road that much, more for towing / grassy camp sites. I've ordered the new BMW upgrade without the filter element. Fit and forget thing. What are the symptoms of a clogged up Filter? I've had a look round and is there...

    Just got a Freelander TD4

Hey, Just got myself a Freelander TD4 Sport Facelift. It's my first 4x4 and have purchased it ready for towing my Track and Race cars around the country. Came up cheap with a couple of small issues so was too good to miss. Had it a week and loving it so far, just ordered everything to do a...
