    Long Brake pedal travel

The pad seems fine but I have not had the wheel off to have a proper look. I will do so later on today, but I think that it will be fine. The carrier/caliper slides smoothly and the pins are very free. Push them against the boots and the rubber will push them out again, so no binding there...

    Long Brake pedal travel

Pads are free and caliper brand new with free travel in and out. Also changed the hose (again) just in case it was dud. It is more long travel than spongy but there is some sponginess. I am pretty sure some air has got in. The more I think about it, the more likely it is that when the ABS...

    Long Brake pedal travel

Disco 2. Pedal travel was fine before running ABS. Removed quite a bit of fluid. Perhaps too much? If so, will need to do the whole thing again. At what point should I fire up the ABS pump to purge the block? Will I need to do so for each wheel or do the ABS system first via NSF wheel and...

    Long Brake pedal travel

I had a problem with a binding brake so changed the caliper and hose. It still ran much hotter than the other three brakes (150C vs 40C) so put on another new caliper and hose. This appears to have done the trick in that the temperatures each side are roughly the same, to within 10C or so...

one job done , more to do and its great

On another subject, I replaced a rear caliper due to it dragging a bit even though the original was under a year old and itself was replaced due to binding. The brakes always seemed a bit spongy so I used the Blackbox software to fire up the ABS pump while I bled the caliper with a vacuum...

one job done , more to do and its great

I will be replacing my front tyres like for like due to one of them getting cut. There will be a small difference in circumference due to wear. Presumably the system can deal with this.

    TD5 Disco Brakes

It does rather sound like this rod. The pedal seems to have a bit too much travel for comfort although it has never failed an MoT on this but I would like it a bit better. It sounds like a bit too much enthusiasm will end up with all sorts of issues. A bit at a time methinks. Presumably I...

    TD5 Disco Brakes

I will have a look at all of the lines tomorrow to check they are all sound. How far should I adjust the rod? I appreciate this is a bit of a length of string question, but are we looking at a quarter turn or a couple of turns? I just want to get a feel. No point over cooking it!

    TD5 Disco Brakes

The caliper is brand new. It has done under 500 miles and is still shiny! I will check the vacuum. The pipe seems sound, but one never knows. The one way valve works ok because it does not lose vacuum. How to I adjust the servo rod? Is it a matter of disconnecting it from the pedal and...

    TD5 Disco Brakes

I have two problems. The first is a slightly dragging OSR brake. It has a new caliper and hose yet the disc is still hotter than the other three. It is only mild, but it is affecting fuel consumption and killing pads. Also, the servo seems to have a tiny capacity. Even varying the pedal...
