    Rare sighting

I'm in a remote part of Saudi Arabia near Yemen and guess what over took the bus! Not often I see one of these outside the expat zones !

    Overheated and bang

I decided to get the work done (re-condition the radiator, hoses, pump and fan) and also reupholster the front two seats. Including labour around £350 using genuine LR parts - apparently. I was persuaded by a D2 owner who had a similar 'blow up' with his coolant system, and my colleague's car...

    Overheated and bang

Thanks guys! I had the belt done last year but didn't think of any other replacements. Knowing me I'll be full of indecision until I'm forced to act .....

    Overheated and bang

A colleague of mine with an identical 1998 Disco 1 V8 recently went bang. Spoke to the mechanic and apparently needs new radiator hoses, radiator and then the engine needs checking. He reckons its pretty serious and it is presently being turned into a sand dune in the scrap yard. If prevention...

    Disco 1 vs Disco 2

Spot on Cooltide. It's an amazing amount of work on a hardly used vehicle. Something has been misused. He had a long list of repairs and replacements that frankly made my blood flow cold - which is quite hard over here

    Disco 1 vs Disco 2

To be fair there's not many if any 18 year old cars that can be trusted on any journey. One of my previous cars was a 97 Audi A4 diesel which had more issues than my 98 D1. I guess it all comes down to maintenance schedules from new

    Looking for advice

Garages should have liability insurance and if you have a good relationship with them a claim should be possible .

    Disco 1 vs Disco 2

Well, I drove it this morning and it's like a different world to my bouncing and noisy D1. Having said that it still suffers from sun damaged paint on the bonnet/roof, interior sun damage and of course an oil leak - in several places as does my D1. Also, to be honest I was shocked how much work...

    Disco 1 vs Disco 2

Many thanks 300bhp. Have to say I'm tempted ... but I'm also tempted to buy a Toyota :)

    Disco 1 vs Disco 2

Many thanks. Both are petrol, V8. I have the 98 manual 2 door (as pictured) version for the last 5 years - been brilliant but it's getting worn. Especially interior and road manners. I don't do any off roading - too scared of being left in the desert ! The other is 2004 TL2 edition, 7 seater...

    Disco 1 vs Disco 2

Guys I've been offered a 2004 Disco 2 in good condition Anyone who have owned or driven both and can advise on the merits or otherwise of the newer Disco? Many thanks

    Disco 1 A/C recirculating switch

Thanks Paul! I had a look at it yesterday afternoon, and the plastic around and inside the heater controls is very brittle. The previous owner should have garaged the car. I don't think I'll change the bulb as long as it works and dos the best it can.

    Disco 1 A/C recirculating switch

Hihi thanks. Anyway I'm pretty sure the switch works so it seems just an illumination light gone. I'll leave it as it is me thunks. Many thanks for your help though!

    Disco 1 A/C recirculating switch

Many thanks Discool. I've brought from r-bros before, they're good. Btw how did you know to know the part was STC1863? (No crystal ball? )

    Disco 1 A/C recirculating switch

Hi. I'm in Saudi Arabia with a 98 Disco. Just realised that the 'on' light no longer illuminates when I press in the air ciculation button (although the air con does appear to be as cold as usual - which is odd but subjective). As its hotter now than hells pavement could someone advise from...

    disco front seat

Ive also got a 'sagging bottom' and I've tried on my 98, 3 door to remove the actual seat - not the lower frame - and either it's stuck or someone's superglued it on. . Any ideas?

    Shakey steering (not Stevens!)

Actually I also fitted new tyres, that made a huge difference as the old ones were really in a poor cracked state.

v8 is missing at low revs

Hi. What you describe happened to my v8 a few years back. And it was fixed by new plugs, caps, leads etc. Did you buy quality parts or eBay deals?

    Shakey steering (not Stevens!)

Gosh ... I can see oil drips!

    Shakey steering (not Stevens!)

Dear All. I've been away from this forum for a while - regaining sanity - and I'll like to update you on my steering issues. The preload on the swivel bearings was checked and alls good. The shocks appear to be ok, so I changed the steering damper and I believe for the moment it has made a big...
