    Hill Descent and TC lights

Haha, no I managed to buy it on my own. Last owner had had it 15 years. I use it for taking the dogs about and it’s been a good workhorse. It’s only done just over 90000 mls. I love it. I can park where I want and not worry too much if someone dings it.

    Hill Descent and TC lights

Thank you Nodge. It’s a freelancer 1 petrol 1998 and has had propshaft removed. I think the hill descent switch is in the gearstick, just reading up on it now. Looks like one of my jobs for tomorrow....plus passenger side window not working lol.

    Hill Descent and TC lights

Having read through this post can I ask Where is the Hill descent switch located, also where is the brake light switch. You’ll have gathered I have the downhill light on. By coincidence I also had a rear brake light bulb out. Changing it, the downhill light is still on so I’ll look at the other...

Prop shaft removed and snow tyres

Thanks for all that really useful information. I'm delighted with the car, only paid £450 for it and the inside is immaculate as it was just an elderly husband and wife that had it. I'm going to check out the pollen filter. Where is it situated? Thanks again.

Prop shaft removed and snow tyres

When I first got my landy I didn't realise the propshaft had been removed. I posted on here asking if it would be worth returning the vehicle to 4WD or would I get away with it two wheel drive and snow tyres as I had a brand new set available. The general opinion was it would not be any more use...

Freelander 1 Refit propshaft or not?

Thank you all for the input. Looks like everyone is in favour of reinstating the propshaft. I'm going to drive the car as is for the next few weeks to see how it goes. It's been in to the garage who reported the brake lines have been replaced with flexihoses and the car appears to be well cared...

Freelander 1 Refit propshaft or not?

Thank you hippo. We know the chap that owned the car. He is a car enthusiast and also owned a Mercedes 200t which he has again had for a number of years. We haven't been able to speak to him since he moved into a retirement flat but he's not that far away and we intend speaking to him soon so he...

Freelander 1 Refit propshaft or not?

Guys thank you all for the info. To put you in the picture, the vehicle has been well maintained by is previous owner of 15 years. He is no longer able to drive it due to ill health and it was sold for a pittance by his son in law who knows even less about Landys than we do. We have spoken to...

Freelander 1 Refit propshaft or not?

Thank you htr. If the car gets a good report on Monday after its service then this is the route we are likely to take.

Freelander 1 Refit propshaft or not?

Thanks Teddy. It's getting a service on Moday so we'll see what the garage says about installing a new shaft.

Well Dave, some of us are new to this. We didn't know the propshaft had been removed when we bought the car. I'm here looking for advice. Thanks for your input!

Freelander 1 Refit propshaft or not?

well I've had my Landy for a week. It's only had 2 owners from new, the second owner had it for 15 years and it's been regularly serviced. Its had the head gasket done. It's covered 78000 miles and we have all the old MOTs to back this up. I contacted the garage who serviced the car to find out...

Thank you krisboats. I'm new to 4 wheel drive and any hints tips or advice is more than welcome. We might reinstate the propshaft then.

Freelander 1 Winter Tyres 205x55x16 will they fit?

Thank you for you reply. I have a full set of these winter tyres brand new, bought for a BMW that was sold before they were fitted. With my Freelander now being 2 wheel drive I thought fitting these might help in the winter.

    Black rubberised corners

hi, I picked up my Landy today and have spent the afternoon giving it a good cut and polish. The car has been parked undermine trees so the paintwork was a mess of sap and needles. While I was cleaning the bonnet I noticed a triangular rubberised bit at each corner of the windscreen. I'm not...

    Hi from Perthshire

Hi, my name is Ann and I'm about to pick up a Freelander 1 1.8 Petrol with 78000 on the clock. I don't know anything about Landies as I have a Toyota Mr2 so will be reading up on the forums here. I'm not a mechanic but don't mind giving things a go. Can't wait to pick the car up tomorrow and...
