    Bleeping when starting?

Well, I drained the fob, put another new battery in it, synced it, and so far no bleeps. Perhaps the new battery was naff after all...

    Bleeping when starting?

Thanks longdog, I may give that a try. I did replace the rear door a couple of months ago as the missus reversed into a pillar. I has all been working fine, but it's another thing to eliminate I guess..

    Bleeping when starting?

Hmmm, just popped to the shops and used the other key. It bleeped as soon as I started the engine. However when I came out of the shop it didn't do it. It's giving me a brain ache now! I might try new batteries again, just in case the other ones were naff. failing that I'm running out of ideas!

    Bleeping when starting?

Yeah that's a possibility. Is the immobiliser chip in the key or the fob? I'm sure I read somewhere it's in the key. I may also try removing the battery from the fob for a bit, to let it power down and drain completely, then I can rule that out too. It's a 2003 facelift, TD4 Sport.

    Bleeping when starting?

No, I didn't need to re-sync the fob, and it's working perfectly. It mostly does it the second I start the engine, however today, I got half a mile down the road and then it decided to beep at me. it just gives the quick 5 or 6 blips and then it doesn't do it until I restart the car again. I...

    Bleeping when starting?

I've done a quick search but not really had any joy. Basically the freelander bleeps at me every time I start it, as if the battery is flat in the remote. I replaced the battery, with an Energizer 2032 (so not a cheap potentially dead one), but the car still goes nuts every time I get in it...

Freelander 1 Retrieve a dropped socket from undertray?

I've done this several times!! I've always been successful by reversing up my ramps, then banging the undertray. This causes the socket to bounce near the bottom of the radiator, then I just hook it out with a bit of wire. Good luck!

Freelander 1 Can you make FL1 mirrors autofold?

Ah thanks nodge- I presumed that would be the case. I have the sport version, so no power fold mirrors!

Freelander 1 Can you make FL1 mirrors autofold?

Do all freelanders have the motor in the mirrors to enable them to fold in, or is this mod only for freelanders with electric folding mirrors wanting to automate them with the locking?

    Fitting aftermarket spotlight facelift Freelander

Hi Tim I fitted the genuine long range spot lamp kit the other week to my facelift TD4. They bolt on to the black part of the bumper. Running the wires and looms was really easy, and didn't require removing the bumper. The whole kit was only £50. Fitting your own LED kit should be fairly...

    External temperature display

Ah ok thanks, I'll do some more digging later. No, there was no mention of it in my user manual. I was looking at a user manual in the RAVE collection of files, and it was in that one. Optional accessories were marked with an astrix, however the temp display wasn't. Which led me to think...

    External temperature display

Afternoon all I have finally found what the other button is for next to the odometer - to change between Celsius and Fahrenheit (I've been pressing it for months to no avail). I don't have a temperature displaying on the odometer though. Was this an optional extra, and if so can a sensor...

down sized from discovery to Freelander. got a problem with steering in low revs

Thanks Hippo. Picked up the VCU today, and also an EGR blanking plate. They were lovely people, and incredibly helpful. The mechanic took my car for a spin to diagnose a rattle, which he cured in seconds. :)

down sized from discovery to Freelander. got a problem with steering in low revs

I'm getting it from Freelander Specialists, in Norfolk. I've seen some good feedback from these people, so guessing they are ok?

    unusual noise

Mine does this also. Sounds like it's coming from the cavity behind the passenger side headlight. It certainly sounds like a fan, although not figured out what it is yet. I'm sure someone on here will know!!

down sized from discovery to Freelander. got a problem with steering in low revs

Hello mate. I'm new to Freelanders too (and this forum!), having just purchased one last month. I had exactly the same issue. Car feels like it's holding back a bit, and when turning on full lock it feels like the brakes are on. I removed the propshaft and VCU today, and it's cured the...
