    Freelander 1 Window motor removal

Cheers Nodge, I'm just gonna replace the lot as I've found a brand new regulator with motor for 32 quid!

    High mileage td4 engines

I do about 50k a year, hoping to get this one up to 250k before getting rid. The engine gets really noisy after 200k, used to have to switch it off at the Mcds drive through

    High mileage td4 engines

Mine is just about to click 190k miles. My old commercial had 250k on it when I sold it, still see it around now.

    Freelander 1 Window motor removal

Hi all, turns out my driver's side window motor is knackered. Thought it was the switch but turns out there is power getting to the motor but it ain't doing anything. Anyhow, I've previously replaced the regulator mechanism, what I'm trying to find out is if it possible to get the motor out...

    Freelander 1 Window ECU

Thanks Andy, there is a window ECU that controls the one shot operation on the driver's window, this takes its signal from the CCU and operates the window. As td4van has kindly pointed out the facelift model doesn't have this module as it's built into the switch pack on the driver's door. The...

    Freelander 1 Window ECU

Thank God for that, thought I was going mad! Looks like the switch pack is goosed then. Cheers

    Freelander 1 Window ECU

Hi guys. My driver's door window has packed up and I think it's the window ECU as the other windows work fine, seems to be a common problem when power is not getting to just one window. Does anyone know where the window ECU is on a 2005 MY 5 door. Rave says it's located behind the driver's...

New to the forum and need help with purchase decision

TD4e is 4x4, the e means it has stop start technology. As mentioned the ED4 is 2wd. I'd definitely go for the HSE and haggle the 200 quid, it's a much nicer place to sit. Heated windscreen and seats are a plus in the cold. Just look for splits in the driver's seat base the seat faces are...

    URGENT headlight wiring help!!!

So the way I've done it is to hook the light bar up to a relay and switch. The signal wire for the relay goes to the positive wire on the main beam. I drilled a small hole in the cover for the main beam lamp fed the wire through and scotch locked the signal wire to the positive wire on the...

Freelander 1 Strange MAF problem (fixed)

Turns out the MAP sensor was full of crud. Cleaned it out and the car is back to normal. Something worth checking before buying a new MAF

Freelander 1 Strange MAF problem (fixed)

So an update to this and still having problems. With the MAF disconnected it runs ok, plug the MAF in and it had no power. Spoke to Ron who makes the RON Box who's a very helpful chap. He thinks it maybe the Fuel rail sensor as when the MAF is unplugged the engine goes into a default MAP...

Freelander 1 Strange MAF problem (fixed)

So put everything back to normal and still no power. I reckon it's the turbo solenoid

    Freelander ground clearance

Agree about the 205 80 16 tyres, I don't like how they look but they are a means to an end for me. As I do a lot of driving off road with my job I wanted some decent AT tyres and there was more choice on a 16" rim. I went for the Michelin Latitude Cross tyres, they really are excellent on the...

Freelander 1 Strange MAF problem (fixed)

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. The Synergy box can be used with a Bosch MAF that is failing, it has no effect on a good MAF. The Pierburg MAF is a cheaper option than the Bosch which does need the Synergy to work correctly. There is an option to turn off the MAF part of the Synergy, this is...

To buy or not to buy??

Go for it! I've had 6 of em. It will go wrong guaranteed, but they're cheap to fix. Great to drive and if you're not into rock crawling surprisingly good off road. I've had my current one for 2 years and have done over 80k of hard miles in it. Starting to cost a bit but it's done 176k!! Can't...

Freelander 1 Strange MAF problem (fixed)

Hi all. Got a strange problem with my 54 plate TD4. Lost all power on the motorway last week, managed to limp home and put it on diagnostics, no codes stored. So unplugged the MAF and it was like a different car so assumed MAF sensor. Fitted a new genuine Bosch sensor which has cured the...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) limp mode

Not sure about the limp mode, power steering is possibly due to the filter in the fluid reservoir being blocked. Its a known issue due to swarf from the manufacturing process not being cleaned out properly. Need to replace reservoir and fluid and keep your fingers crossed.

Where are you mate? I'm in North Wales, if you're not too far away I'll read the codes for you.
