This week I cleaned the DPF on my L322 TDV8 4.4

I wonder how clean I got it with the work I did - certainly a lot of smoke came out. I found out this week why I was getting red errors, it was because my EGR outlet was very blocked, generating low flow errors for it. When the L322 gets a low flow error it doesn't ever bother regening again...

This week I cleaned the DPF on my L322 TDV8 4.4

Just contributing my experience on this forum (as I have already on the Facebook ones). Regarding giving my DPF a clean whilst still on vehicle.. in the video towards the end you can see the whole load of smoke that came out! And this was on the second clean of the week. I figured doing it...

Loss of power after traffic or when towing

Just in case anyone else gets this.. the reason was the wax valve in the fuel filter being stuck.. this causes fuel to overheat and a non code throwing loss of performance through pump limiting fuel output. Cheap fuel filters have cheap wax valve! More detail here...

    Freelander 2 2.2 2007 boost pressure help

Just been testing my 2.2 tdi boost today as I am replacing a weeping intercooler at the weekend and wanted to know the before values. I get pressure at the manifold of 36 psi Boost pressure of 22 psi 14 psi at air filter So I guess the reading you quoted was pressure at inlet manifold and not...

    Throttle pos value?

rereading my own post, as ironically my throttle body now actually does have a fault. The "Command Throttle Actuator" value (which I think shows the value the engine wants) behaves as expected when foot comes off the pedal or engine is stopped, however the throttle position it self and relative...

freelander 2 no dash illumination ,and wont start

Has anyone got to the bottom of this Mystery? My forever irritating Land Rover freelander 2 has now suffered from this today. Symptoms: Key goes in.. press the button with my foot on the clutch and nothing. The steering lock doesn't come off. The dash lights and mileage don't show. The...

    Help, oil leak

Update: it seems like this is a hot topic: https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic31972.html?highlight=pcv some like a catch can, some like a posher seperator, and some say both are bad as they starve the inlet stems of oil vapour. Who knows who is right. A mini sump, with a drain, on the plastic...

Shudder and repeated crankshaft sensor failure

It seems like the pcv is a hot topic and my half joking consideration would be a catch can. Some frown on it saying it might starve the intake stems of oil vapour. some like it. who knows who is right! https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic31972.html?highlight=pcv

Shudder and repeated crankshaft sensor failure

Lets hope so. The weekend trip to north Devon will certainly test it. Lets hope I get 19 MPG towing and not infinity MPG (on the back of a recovery truck!) I have just ressurrected an old thread on here regarding the seepage of oil from the joint in the induction pipe after the PCV, which I...

    Help, oil leak

Appologies to resurrect an old thread @Hippo I wondered what mechanism the FL2 has for seperating the oil from the air and how good it is when it is working. I ask because my FL2 leaks oil from the induction pipe that goes across the engine and down to the turbo. The leak is just after the PCV...

Shudder and repeated crankshaft sensor failure

The freelander seems to be fixed! I carefully unpicked the used wiring loom and extracted the 3 wires from the Crankshaft sensor all the way back to the ecu, and cut them a couple of inches from the ecu. I then also removed all the insulating tape from the used loom and salvaged as many thin...

Shudder and repeated crankshaft sensor failure

The best thing to do is source a new plug, and graft it in to the harness. I spent hours last night on the internet looking for a source of a new plug (if anyone knows of where I might source one that would be very cool). So I have just ordered a used entire engine loom for the freelander 2...

Shudder and repeated crankshaft sensor failure

I've just come in from investigating the wiring. What a pain it is with Freelanders that you have to remove the windscreen wipers to get to the ECU! Anyhow I checked continuity between the ECU connector and the 3 wires at the Crank shaft sensor and all 3 were good. I then checked the voltage...

Shudder and repeated crankshaft sensor failure

replacing it this time (as of 2 days ago), hasn't fixed it this time (and I have swapped it twice this summer, once to try and fix the shudder, then on sensor death this week). I think something else is causing the sensor to fail.

Shudder and repeated crankshaft sensor failure

Hi all, I have a strange and ongoing issue with my freelander 2 (2007 2.2 auto) which I am wondering if anyone else has encountered and solved? It starts off as a shuddering at around 2000 to 2500 RPM a bit like going over a cattle grid. Once you are not at this sweet (or not so sweet!) spot...

    Throttle pos value?

These arnt actually the readings on obd as I understand it. They come from the throttle body it self regulating air flow. It turns out that air flow regulation is used on a diesel to increase the effectiveness of the evil egr. This is why when driving it remains open and the only time you see...
