Thanks for the help guys. Looked at separating the switches but not enough space on the dashboard. Back to single speed it is or 100€ für a new twin speed. Anoying thing is that it is just the green switch at the end that has broken off.

hi, Anyone used another switch apart from the Lucas 814854 for their windscreen wiper/washer? The contact at the end of the switch has broken and am wondering if there are any alternatives. Cheers Mines a 1974 88 petrol

Always keep a hammer for a few light taps for this exact situation. Can also happen if the battery is new and/or has been recently fully charged.

Incredible! Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction. Loose earth was the culprit and along with that arching and heating up a bit of the old oil. Great stuff and thanks again for your help. :)

Thank you for the replies. Mines a Petrol. Battery had no Problems turning the starter Motor with real power. Maybe a prob with the alternator? Smoke smells of burning, in particular electrical. Will duly check the manifold and exhaust System for leaks etc. Will renew cable. Will it be an...

Just had this today too. Replaced the bulb and the housing was cracked too. Quick bodge job with cardboard to get it through the MOT/TUV and looking for new housing. Mine seems to be working fine.

Hi Ben, Mines a 1974 petrol. In Germany we need to do this. They don't mind where the switch is located as long as it is in working order. I have the switch and just really need to know whether I need anything else or do I wire it in through the indicators. Rgds
