Well after a gear box rebuild and props checked and UJ's replaced and all in all around £2000 later I still have the vibration just the same as before..................I'm totally lost as what the cause is.

Fly Wheel and Clutch were replaced 5000 mls ago with genuine LR parts
James's idea sounds the most likely.
I guess it's a gearbox out repair so may be cheaper to get exchange unit drop out the old and drop in the new?

I have towed 3.5 tonnes with TDI 300 and I can tell you it's not for the feint hearted. I suggest you listen to the guys about nose weght and balance.
However think of this:
Towing 3.5 tonnes down a steep hill in vehicle that weighs maybe 2.2 tonnes and your not in straight...

I'm getting grinding in fifth gear on my manual 04 Landmark D2 between 50 - 70. At first I thought "wheel balance" but I've had it done several times and it makes no difference. I also thought wheel bearing but it doesn't occur in fourth or when coasting. I can ease it by subtle...
