Morning all Just got a second hand diff from local scrap yard for £50 what would you suggest I do before fitting? I e cleaning it out, flinch with oil check bearings? Also what oil should I refill with?

Hi all I need so advice please. When I try to start my fl 1 she just ticks and nothing else. So I put some jump leads on and still nothing!??? So I gave the starter a tap and she worked ok. The only thing now is I have to tap it every time I want to start it. Any ideas ???
