    Thanks both. I'll try to locate a replacement switch pack although it is such a coincidence that it stopped working when I boost started the car. I'm thinking that something must have burnt out. I'll try one thing at a time. I'll check which alternator I've got when it stops raining...

    Diesel Hot Starting Fault P38

    Hi. I own a 1997 P38 DSE and thought for 2 years that I had a hot start problem and was looking at this fix. However, I changed the battery to the recommended one which whizzes everything around much quicker and now starts brilliantly hot or cold. Just a thought in case it helps.

    Bonnet catch faulty?

    I had this and found that a slight adjustment to the strike plate fixed it. It is just a couple of screws. Loosen them slightly and adjust the plate. This then makes a better contact for the switch.

    P38 Chrome wheel nut caps

    The problem is that water gets in between the chrome cover and the steel wheel nut underneath it. The steel rusts and the wheel nut expands so that the wheel brace won't fit. Unfortunately you either have to replace the wheelnut or use a bigger socket. Cheers. John
