10 points to @Hicap phill ! Either the cv crapped itself and took out the halfshaft, or vice versa, but good result, don't have to take diff out, just got to thoroughly clean the hub as metal bits are everywhere, at least the cv grease contains...
Got round to fitting the bias plate on Monday which went quite easily to be honest, only had to remove the first plate and had easy access to replace the plate which had snapped completely off.
I can get all gears nicely now without guessing...
Try pressing the fuel cut off inertia switch button on the bulkhead, my TD5 did not start one day and thats what it was, it must have tripped shutting off the fuel, after resetting the switch it fired up instantly.
I picked up a bit of angle iron this morning to fix the wheels in place so I can move the spare 2286 engine round a bit , next step to add some brackets to hold rad so I can start it up for testing purposes after rebuild
Try the easiest thing first charge your battery or replace it for a heavy duty truck battery, TD5's require a good battery to spin them over fast enough to start in cold weather, once started they are fine, classic battery issue.
