Is 2h30 of Time & Labour justified for adjusting the timing on my Freelander 2.0L?

In answer to StefanA's question ... I'm not a techie, but I read that the injection pump contains a solenoid controlled by the motor control unit which synchronizes the pump to inject fuel at the right time. I was under the impression that the timing could be re-adjusted electronically, but it...

Is 2h30 of Time & Labour justified for adjusting the timing on my Freelander 2.0L?

So, as posted in a spearate string in this forum, the problem of intermiitent engine warning light plus power loss has been resolved on my 10 year old 200000+ kms Freelander 2.0L. The problem arose after my local garage (not a Land River specialist), removed/re-installed the fuel pump in order...

2.0L D Motor warning light plus intermittent power loss

The problem was resolved by adjusting the timing. To do that, I had to pay the Land Rover garage for 2h30 of labour; which I think was excessive. So I'll post another string to check out if I've been ripped off. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Problem solved.

freelander 2.0TD TPS problem i think ? Pleeze help!

So that's my problem solved. I took the car into the Land Rover garage at Montpellier. The technician said to leave it with them 1 hr, or perhaps 1h30, or just leave it for the afternoon as they had a lot of things going on. When I came back at the end of the afternoon, problem solved. It was...

freelander 2.0TD TPS problem i think ? Pleeze help!

Ratty, thanks for the suggestion. Garage checked and apparently it's not that. I'm seriously thinking about the timing solenoid rather than the injector sensor. However, I don't want to "hijack" stevieg76's string so I'll stay quite and check this posting from time to time to see if/how...

freelander 2.0TD TPS problem i think ? Pleeze help!

I'm following this string closely as it concerns the same problem that I posted a couple of weeks ago. I have a rendez-vous with LandRover to do the diagnostic but I can already guess that it will be "Ignition timing deviation". The intermittent motor warning light and power loss started...

2.0L D Motor warning light plus intermittent power loss

Up until recently, I would have my local Land Rover dealer service my Freelander, until I realized that they were pretty shoddy (eg distribution belt never ever changed). Then I switched to a local garage who seem OK. They changed the distribution belt, water pump (the vehicle was losing water)...

2.0L D Motor warning light plus intermittent power loss

Hi, I let my local garage do the 200000km service on my beloved year 2000 Freelander. They had trouble changing the 4 glow plugs and had to remove the injector pump to get the 4th one out. Ever since, the motor warning light comes on shortly after moving off. It goes off again whenever you take...
