    roof rack suggestion

Just a thought (and will probably get many 'that looks horrible' comments) but I found a second-hand roof rack from a Mitsubishi Pajero on our local version of ebay, and bolted it to some Halfords roof bars - total outlay about £80. The roof rack and bars are aluminium, so don't rust and have no...

    Defender hire

If you get really stuck and can't find an alternative, PM me and we'll see what can be managed (ferry fare for day return is about £75 in summer). I work in Leeds, which complicates things slightly, but fly up and back every week and am usually free on Saturdays. Not desperate to do it, but...

Thule 949 EasyBase Base Unit Thule EasyBase 949 - Thule Apologies - lied about the capacity (not intentionally) - 45Kg (which is a mobility scooter, apparently, so a lawnmower should be fine. A Hayter Spirit 41 Lawnmower weighs 29 Kg according to their website.

    Defender hire

Defenders make ok wedding cars - depending on how you want to travel.. My daughter squeezed into my 90 hard top (which isn't green I'm afraid - but otherwise you'd be welcome) just before Christmas :-) I had to duct-tape a new tarpaulin inside - to be on the safe side (and having had to buy...

Hopefully this will have worked ( doing this from ferry half way to Isle of Wight). If not will try tomorrow.

I would vouch for the 'rack on the tower' approach. I have a Thule version, which I bought to take a large trolley that the family take for luging camping gear at Glastonbury. It sits on the back of the car with the trolley in it. loaded with tents and camping equipment. I have put 4 25Kg bales...

How many miles does your 90 do on a tank?

TD5 (2002) with 109k gets to amber light at 285 miles - regular as clockwork. 43 litres to refill.

    Lots of Jags and Landies

Bloody thing is in the way on my journey to work! I think there are some (bent) Bentleys in there as well.

    lights

Paddocks sell an extension loom to existing lights which has a plug at one end and bullet fittings at the other - I needed to replace one on mine and simply cut off the bullets and connected in with a connector.

    What tyres?

Fair point, fairly made - and the thread has not descended into the murky world of mickey taking that might have been the case. However, a very quick search shows that the exact question (with some variations for model of Lany) has been asked at least 10 times before = so it could easily have...

    What tyres?

Seriously - have you got a death wish? If you have made 160 posts you must have read some if the threads on here. I would leave the country now, were I in your shoes ...:)

    Jgs 4x4

Just to note, I ordered a couple of indicators from Paddocks and, living on the Isle of Wight, ticked the 'UK Islands' box, which added £16 to the total. The next day i had a refund of £13 on my Visa card and the indicators came through the post. The next time I ordered something small I...

    Trailer tell-tale and LED indicators

I was getting problems with corrosion on the old lamp holders. The central pin was lasting about 2 months if I was lucky. I posted a question on LZ and was advised to go for better quality sealed units. LED ones seemed to provide the answer - and at just over £11 each didn't break the bank. I...
