Thank you. The contact block is definitely cheep enough to be worth a try. I had a fiddle yesterday and whether or not the steering column does what it should do appears related to what I do with the key.

In the end I put the new internals in my old key cases. It's worked a treat! Spent a total of £50 and have two working keys. Happy days!!!

My steering column motor works just fine. I have up and down and in and out. However, recently, it has started to forget it's memory position. More recently it occasionally doesn't move into its "rest" position when I take the key out of the ignition. Upon further investigation it appears that...

Superb information thank you that is really helpful

Brilliant . Thank you. How easy is it to take just the chip out? I'm asking because part of the problem is the micro switches of the original are clearly worn out and so don't want to swap the complete old board into a new casing.

Thanks. So I take to a look smith to get key cut but can just programme it myself? I think method involves inserting key in ignition, turning to position 1 then 0, removing and pressing buttons in various combinations. Sound about right?
Just checking I've found the right video

I'm having problems with my keys. Early fob with built in key. Despite replacing the batteries, I constantly get the low key battery warning on the dash. Today one fob stopped working altogether. Do I need new fobs? If so what's the reprogramming procedure - can I do it myself?

Thanks again Saint V8! Really helpful information. I have changed the front struts recently and wondered if calibration was needed. Also when I disconnected the battery last year to do some welding (proper repair to the leading edge of the rear wheel arch- both sides), I had to run the car from...

Great video! Looks like the iCarsoft is a great starting point.
Next question: when/why would you need to calibrate the suspension?

I remember looking at All Comms when I first bought the car three years ago. I was slightly concerned about buying direct from the US so its good to know you have had a good experience. Is there a reason you don't use All Comms all the time. Is it clunky for basic fault reading?

Thank you again! I know I'm going to have to invest in one at some point soon.

Thats really helpful thank you! I had wondered about the adjusting when coming to a stop - what I am experiencing would certainly tie in with what you describe although the movement is nearer an inch than half.
With regard to the warning message my battery is good so i will check the connectors...

Just seen- I didn't use the word cheep!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Sorry shouldn't have used the word cheep; perhaps good value for money would be a better term. I certainly don't shirk from spending money on the car! I knew what I was getting into! However I am also careful with my money. What would be more helpful is to be...
