'99 1.8 Xei. 143602 and still going. In fact I think its haunted as it started and ran without a rotor arm during its last service!

I thought so, the key fits all the door and tailgate locks so obviously its not been changed so where should I look now?

This keeps happening to my '99 1.8 xei. usually works again after changing the battery. I do have one question, should you be able to unlock the doors with the key? because mine wont.

Sounds exactly the same as what happened on my '99 XEI, turned out to be the ignition switch. YXB100350 is the part number mate, might be an idea to change it anyway as it is quite common and a cheap part and easy fix too, good luck

My rear window on my '99 1.8 XEI needs to be helped home when closing tailgate. basically, I think its been replaced at some point and now it catches the edge of the top groove and stops there. I am being lazy as I haven't even bothered to take trim off and have a look, just thought of it now...

Ive had my '99 Freelander 1.8 XEi for 6 months now. Had a slight problem with the ignition switch (easy fix) but nothing else. Went through MOT with just a couple of bulbs needed and has never been a problem but... every time I tell someone I have a petrol Freelander I always get the intake of...

All sorted now, Tried that site and a word of warning. dont bother. They had the part advertised at £13.90 so I bought it. 2 days later I get an email saying that the published price was a mistake and the real price was £54! I answered and told them they should honour the price advertised...

This happens occasionally on my 1999 1.8 XEI, The instruments will suddenly stop working, indicators make a buzzing noise from the fusebox and eventually the engine will stop. try the key and the usual warning lights show but are very dim, keep trying the key and when the warning lights show...
