    It did start when I held the connection against the terminal. It doesn't now, which makes me think it the stud has turned as suggested earlier.

    Just tried shorting the solenoid no joy. The stud sounds a likely problem. The nuts were very tight and took a lot to turn. Is there a solution or is it a new starter motor!! If it's a new starter any ideas on sourcing one? Cheers guys.

    Hi I've got a series 2a. It's had an intermittent starting fault which turned out to be a poor connection to the starter motor (live). I've tightened the connection via the two nuts but now it's not staring at all! The solenoid is clicking over nicely but noting from the starter motor. There...

    I have been loaned a Series landy that needs some minor bits and bobs doing. As a Landy virgin I not quite sure which series it is. Its an old J reg (1971 I think), Petrol, SWB. How can I tell which series it is

    I've been given one!

    Well I have been 'loaned' a series Landy. She starts, drives and stops so nothing to bad. Just needs tinkering with. As I am new to the landrover I'm going to need some help from you guys over the next few months. First bone question is... how do I know what series Landy it is? Thanks...
