4 Torq bolts to release the airbag, battery disconnected for around an hour while I had lunch before I removed the airbag.
Strip out the switches in situ, easy enough.
A good wash and a light key with some fine wet and dry
And done, will put a...
I bought a second hand wheel as I wanted an upgrade so all being done off the car. Already stripped the buttons down. Just waiting for a warm before before shooting 2k clear on it.
I'll be doing mine soon. One of the things he says in the video is to lacquer the plastic after putting the decals on.
How you would deal with the overspray I have no idea if it's in the car.
Without lacquer they will surely just peel off from...
Last option is to just make one, but what I'll probably do is cut it off the old wheel. That way I can cut off a big chunk of the plastic surround to increase the contact area for gluing.
If anybody has a scrap steering wheel, I'd be grateful if you could try prying the plastic thing off, and tell me whether it popped off, or smashed broke apart.
I'm restoring a steering wheel to replace my old tired one.
The one I have has a plastic lug missing as shown in the image.
When I bought it, I was planning on just swapping the whole black back piece from my old wheel, but I can't for the life...
Way too time consuming based on how many posts are wrong and would just generate loads of noise for the mods to deal with.
If you've ever used stack exchange forums they are managed by site users and it works really well.
I spend a lot of my time in the Range Rover section and there's loads of posts where the title doesn't include the car type, e.g. L322, P38 etc.
My mild OCD would love to occasionally fix them all so I don't keep entering a post I actually don't...
This is for those that might want RAVE sections available as PDF's on tablets or phones
If you get the "RAVE All Models" zip-file from my google drive & exctract the files, you can then get individual PDF for each section. Then copy them...
Has it always had a lumpy idle in your ownership.
Wondering if the previous owner fitted uprated high lift cams.
My rover V8 is lumpy at idle die to the cam.
I bit the bullet and ripped - carefully removed the dash out last weekend and installed my new genuine Blend motors and the heating is working perfectly.
No book symbol - first for me on a P38
DO NOT connect the blend motors before installing...
I did my passenger side the other week. Removed the airbag, drilled a hole to unscrew the duct, got angry with the air duct and finally got it out of the way. Cut the cable and re-solders the potentiometer. Reattached with a choc block and works...
If you have the posh stereo, that's the Harmon Kardon speakers and Clarion (early) Alpine (later) stereo install, they operate on balanced line level outputs to separate door speaker amps. It reduced interference, and makes the sound quality...
As I understand, with the android units you can tell it what the steering wheel buttons are so they can work with any steering button on any car. Unless I'm missing somehting.
As for line out, I've not figured this out yet, but sounds quality is...
I was going to go with Joying as I like the ribbon screen connection as it has less constraints, but at the moment I'm leaning towards EKIY. They use the same hardware as Joying, and the reviews on EKIY put them on par with Joying byt they are a...
I do tend to agree. I guess what I'm trying to convince myself of is if the tech contrast will look minimal enough to justify the benefits.
One benefit of the change is whilst I do like the look of the P38 dash, I think it's a little busy with...
I really can't decide whether to put a modern Android touch screen radio in my 2000 P38 or not.
On one hand, I would really like a reversing camera, DAB radio, decent modern built in sat-nav and a Bluetooth connection to my phone for calls and...
Sounds normal to me. Ideally you need to change the oil a second time after a few hundred miles as only half the oil comes out when you drain it. An oil change may help the hard shift. Wile uou have the sump off, follow Henryb advice and...
My 4.0 2000 is the only P38 I've ever driven so not sure if the gearbox feel is normal.
It's a little slow to change gear.
Let say I'm going down a hill, dropping it form D to 2nd
It's a good couple of seconds between each gear change.
Is this...
When I put wheel nuts on I only use a 1foot bar, that’s plenty.
But mainly so if in the event M has to change a wheel she can stand on the 2foot bar.
Tyre fitters and their handy windy guns need a slap I have to agree.
J
Maybe I'm an idiot but I've never torqued a wheel nut.
I just do them pretty tight, and then a nudge more for luck.
This is probably tighter than 140nm, but nowhere near as tight as they come back from the tyre fitters.
