    Defender front brake pipe replacement

Hi all - I know it's been a while since this thread has been added too. But as i'm putting my brakes back together (and I thought i'd taken loads of photos - as it turns out, not quite enough) I have been searching high and low for a break down on how mine should hang together. It has a PRV...

    Replacement chassis has no number

Mate - going down the same route. What I was advised by the supplier of the glav chassis was to keep the chunk of old orig chassis with chassis number on, and also the reciept for new one - that will be fine. If you do go down the DVLA route, they have known people who have had to take their...

    chassis/welding

I know they all rot in different places at different times - mine had similar holes on main chassis legs near rear suspension. There were a few on here who said probably be alright with a little welding, but I went galv chassis route. When I had a good old poke around on old chassis, it were...

    Steering box tie bar question

I know this is an old thread - but just come up with exactly the same issue today. Over at Rimmers - they went through their manuals, i've also been through all the usual Haynes etc . . glad I found this!!! I can sleep in peace knowing the exacting tolerances that Defenders are built with lol . .

Finally picked up a project 90

Hi there mate - and good luck doing what you've got planned :) i've started doing the same as you, started a few months ago (although my chassis was well and truely buggered - so glav was only option) What i've ended up doing is refurbishing and refreshing everything on it - just what I wanted...

    Rust !

Rust proofing it?!?!?! Mate, you don't need to do that (unless cutting through the galv) - chatting to the chaps at Richards, it'll last about . . . mmmm, 100 odd years as is - apparently :) I was going to paint mine to 'hide' it, but again, been told it'll go a dark shade of grey with use and...

    Galvanising your Bulkhead

Evening all . . having got my landy in bits, seems a good idea to perhaps get the bulkhead galvanised. Plan was to take it to some one local (living in Nottingham). BUT - after speaking with someone in the know, they mentioned that not always the best idea as if the temp isn't right, could cause...

MOT Due so thought I would take a look underneath , Big Mistake !!

Mine looked right dodgy when I started poking around - you'll find the more you look around, the worse it'll get!! New chassis time me thinks . . .

    Scarey isn't it . . .

When you take the body off to see the state of the chassis!!! Just in process of taking bits off the landy to do a chassis swap and although I knew it had some dodgy places, looks soooo much worse when you get in naked in full daylight!! Lots of flakey metal, bubbling here and there - not to...

    Defender Doors

Having been round the factory a few months ago - thats how they adjust them to fit there!!! Having said that, I had same problem with wet floor on passenger side - found water coming in thought the bolts holding windscreen to bulkhead!! Took them out, add a little sealant, sorted!!!

    Ahhhh . . . pic atached??

    300tdi Squealing/Whining Noise

Mate, I had exactly the same problem - to fix it, you'll need to put a washer (or a penny as I did ) behind the tensioner at the top. Problem is the aux belt rubbing slight and the washer fix thing, kinda aligns everything backup. Just been trying to load a pic for you . . but looks more...
