Got it!! Thanks very much everyone.. Sometimes just talking about things makes the brain work properly. The fuel pick up in the tank looked okay but was blocked?!? blast of air and a good clean has sorted it out. Thanks again for your suggestions!!

Okay.. Should have said that it starts and dies, starts and dies and never runs for more then a few seconds

Okay. Haven't replaced the coil. How would I check for air in the fuel line?

Hi All, My series iii 2.25 petrol starts but then dies after a few seconds. I have to leave it a minute or so before it will start again... I've replaced the fuel pump and the carb and it still does it.. Anybody got any ideas? Simon

Hi, I have a landy (Series iii 74 petrol 2.25) thats been dry stored for about 15 years; I have cranked the engine by hand so I know it's not seized and have changed the oil, filters, electrics etc (except the coil). This weekend I cranked it and there was no joy just turned over but did not...
