    advice on defender 90

Anything made before January '75 is tax exempt. So that'll be thousands of 'em then!

Ready to put the sledge hammer to it..

Depends how the gasket goes doesn't it? If it fails between a cylinder and a water jacket then the cylinder will over pressurise the coolant system.

    advice on defender 90

Have you considered looking at something like a series 3? They are just as uncomfortable but a bit more bouncy. Most qualify for free tax and classic insurance is about 90 quid.

    90 as a daily commuter

When they announced the end of production last year, my other half and I went down to LR with a view of buying one before they went out of production. We had a test drive in a top of the range 110. I didn't like it. There's nowhere for my right knee and my driving position puts the rear of the...

    JC’s Discovery 300TDi Restoration

Finally got around to a job that I've been meaning to do for about a year... Lazy git! Rear windows haven't worked for ages. The usual suspect is the rear window ECU and this case was no exception. Hardest bit is getting the circuit board out of the case whilst it's still in the vehicle. What...

    Disco 1 Windscreen rubbers

Rob, how did you replace the screen surrounds without taking the glass out?

    Me 110 in Bits

Run a soft top from april 'til September and then fit the hardtop for winter. That's what I've done in the past when I've had convertibles to use every day. You're only breaking out the spanners twice a year that way and get the soft top for most of the year.

    Is £2,500 enough?

Absolutely. You have to ask yourself "do I want to own this persons old car"?

Series 3 My Series 3 restoration

I think you'll have a lot of fun with that. Doing a restoration on one of these seems like a fantastic idea. Just like giant lego kits. See if you can blag a go in someones completed series. Think very carefully about what springs and seats you want to fit. It's essentially a road going tractor...

Am I "wasting" time and money on a disco?

My 300 tdi clicked over to 96k miles today. It's rock solid underneath, has rear wheel arches and a boot floor with paint as shiny on the bonnet and has a stunning interior. This year I believe I need to throw a grand at it in tyres and new standard suspension components as it's starting to feel...

    What should I do?

What about turning the discovery into a focused offroader? You can always tow it around with your RR.

    JC’s Discovery 300TDi Restoration

Been a little while since I updated this thread... In the almost 2 years since we bought the TDi we've clocked up almost 25,000 miles. By and large it has been quite reliable. The Discovery has become part of the family now. Nicola, my other half and I got engaged last year at santapod...

Out of interest how much do you think you invested from ordering the chassis to getting a new ticket?

Series 3 A bit of advice please.

You can see paint on the door rubbers so it's had a blow over. Having said that, the paint on the rear cross member gave that away, though. Check the chassis number matches the one on the logbook. For £1100 you can't really go wrong can you? If it's not for you getting your money back won't be...
