Yeah feels like a missfire, just between the 1750-2000 rev mark. Car needs putting through it mot but the smoke has me concerned  it has been parked up for a fair while now too so could just need a good run/blow through but I’m trying to not smoke out the neighbourhood :D

Late reply because life (fixing 3 other cars put the FL on the back burner )
So the coolant leak was in fact the pipe to the ird cooler, swapped and that’s now operational and holding so definitely not the head. However the white burnt smelling smoke remains around 1750k revs. So far...

So, I don’t appear to have an egr cooler, but I opened my bonnet to find zero coolant at all, refilled it 4 times and it was emptying straight away so the Smokey exhaust may not have anything to do with the coolant. Tried to source the leak, appears to be directly above the prop but at the rear...

I’ll look into that! To be honest it’s sat rotting away with the crap weather and a dodgy back I’ve not had my head in since January  I initially thought the smoke was fuel related so refurb injectors, sorted the egr and cleaned out the intake- I was running the engine to try clear the...

You might be able to add 1 to the list, I’ve got coolant disappearing and white smoke in plumes coming out the exhaust ♂️

Oh this one was definitely for an auto, could tell by the internals. When you remove the pin/nozzle you can tell pretty quickly. When I bought the car it was listed as an “injector fault”, I did wonder why it wasn’t swapped with the one he had, though he said “didn’t have time”- which between...

I unfortunately went on good faith from the guy I bought it from- lesson learnt one step closer to it running though :D
yes they are slightly different, think there’s a fuelling difference- been a while since I’ve heard of the reason why :D
lesson learnt though- now I know it was definitely...

I’ll give it a full clean, see if that helps getting it firing nicely

So all being original (though it is a LR :D) then it would be at 183k- though you can tell it was loved at one point- but 8 owners so when that was I don’t know. NGK plugs, silicon hoses and a newish looking crank pulley. The only bit that gives it a bit of age (through the mud) is the exhaust...

I’ve cleaned out the connection on the fuel rail just in case it was that, can definitely hear what sounds like a pump hissing- though noticeably in the wheel well too which was quiet before
something to investigate for definite- I did notice the obd wasn’t reading anything on the...

I’ll add crank pulley looks newish- chain was also tight when I had the cover off.
For arguments sake I’ve swapped oil, tested the plugs and they are glowing (new ones are arriving tomorrow I think anyway).
I’ve also swapped the pipe connector on to the old injector which I knew the engine...

Sorry- on bench test. I tried to test in vehicle but it didn’t fire up/couldn’t see it in the wind.

Ok a lot to respond to so I’ll Larry do it in order.
The injectors are good- spray pattern is precise and they’ve been rebuilt- though I’d rather fix by fault finding that replacement given I’m not in a rush per se.
All the turbo hoses have been stripped and cleaned of oil- think it was due to...

Crank appears good…
