    Unusual trans failsafe question

Thanks Saint for the detailed reply. The thing I find most bizarre is that when i get the TFP message it doesn't lock into 4th, it changes gear normally in both drive and what should be called manual mode although it doesn't say so!!! When i move into manual mode it shows the mountain but...

    Unusual trans failsafe question

Apologies - its a 2003 Vogue TD6. 145k mileage, don't have any record of the gearbox being done but everybody I spoke to suggested theres not much chance of it lasting 140k so is bound to have been done at some point. Used a Snap On code reader, not sure of the model but I was assured it could...

    Unusual trans failsafe question

Hi All, My cars started coming up with a TRANS FAILSAFE PROG from time to time. Now what I find interesting about this is other than the car driving along as if it's slipping the clutch all the time (tq converter disabled?) it drives normally - goes up and down through the gears fine, and if...

    Low range light...

Hi all, Have a query regarding the L322 low range. When I put it into neutral and pull on the low range switch you can hear the motor operating but the low range light doesn't flash, or come on at all. However once the motor stops making its noises you can drive away and it's definitely in...

Free Land Rover Experience vouchers in return for your time on a student project

Sheffield - that's part of the problem. Consumers have become too greedy and expect new and revolutionary things quicker than they can be fully developed and tested. JLR, and probably most other manufacturers at the moment, sell their cars, in my opinion, because of clever marketing rather than...

Free Land Rover Experience vouchers in return for your time on a student project

In terms of what the RR has been for the past 20 years I see it as a comfortable and luxurious car for 40-65 age range. Partly because cost is a prohibiting factor for anyone outside that range. It should be good at wafting around in comfort and style, with the ability to perform reasonably well...

Free Land Rover Experience vouchers in return for your time on a student project

Admittedly I don't have any experience with the transit engine - but the additional sensors and other ancillary electrics that I'd imagine are on the engine (which I thought was used to confirm with Euro4 regs) cant hold up well when wading?? And I quite liked my M51 engine :p The new G wagen...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLHOK9ic0Rc&app=desktop This is probably part of the reason RR owners don't go offroad. The only thing it appears to have going for it is, judging by the video at 0:27, its probably one of the most watertight cars LR ever made :hysterically_laughi The new RR and...

    New tyres feel funny

The V8 top speed is 105 mph claimed, and the TD5 is 97mph. It's fine to reduce the speed rating down as far as the manufacturers claimed top speed, so yes I suppose 105mph could be argued but the TD5 has separate figures published so can't imagine it'd matter... That being said 95mph is still...

    New tyres feel funny

The Sahara's are 105 Load rating, speed rating Q (95MPH), rangers 106 Load, speed S (106mph) from what i can find 105 is standard load rating with speed rating of H (133mph) but this is unnecessary surely?!

    New tyres feel funny

Haven't looked on the side of the tyre but I tend to ignore this, because as turboman says they tend to be a max pressure only and far too much for day to day use. Would there be any logic in getting the tyres swapped from the disco 2 to my disco 1, putting the grabber UHP's from the D1 onto...

    New tyres feel funny

I've got 38PSI in the insa's at the back, and around 34PSI on the front. The car starts to feel wobbly around 50MPH+. I don't really go above 65 usually but 60 is a challenge at the moment! Can't see that springs would've shifted given that they are airbag SLS springs on the rear. In hindsight...
