In the end I sawed through the rustiest part of the bumper near the centre using an electric saw. Then I pivoted the two ends of bumper around the fixing bolts/plates and they fell out into the dumb irons. The two halves of the bumper came off easily and it was straightforward to fish out the...

Thanks - I'll get the hacksaw blade out and give it a go

The front bumper on by 200tdi is badly rusted in place and so I have got a new bumper, bolts and plates to replace it. I have soaked the old bolts in WD40 for days but have still managed to shear off two of them. Does anyone know where I need to cut to get them out?
Am I better trying to get a...

Thanks for the advice. I'll get a new gasket and have a go at fixing it

I've been searching for the source of a coolant leak on my 200tdi and I think I've tracked it down to the joint between the thermostat housing and the cylinder head. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the thermostat housing without removing the timing belt cover first ?

I used self adhesive closed-cell foam covered with auto-trimming carpet. I'd advise fitting the foam in small-ish pieces, and the carpet in one piece, but the end result is good

Thanks - I'll give that a go. Had one shatter before so I'll be careful
Does anyone know what thread size the holes are ?

The rear step on my 200tdi 90 got bashed and in the process of getting it off I managed to shear off both bolts...
What's left of the bolts is now well and truly seized. I have tried getting them out with WD40, drilling, bolt extractors (breaking my tap wrench in the process)...

Thanks - will give it a go

So if I removed the shims between the hinge and the door entirely would that cause me a problem ?
I'm thinking that might get the door aligned better at the front but if it's going to leak, sag or whatever then I need to find another solution (I have enought leaks as it is)

Well I just checked the hinges and they're all on the right way. Any other ideas ?

Hmmm....
That's got me thinking. Thanks for the advice. I'll check

The front of the passenger door looks slightly too far in and presses hard on the the seal. Drivers door seems ok. Pretty sure hinges are fitted right (with door mirror fitted to top ones) but is there a difference from side to side ?
Hinges are genuine LR O/E ones

The passenger door on my 200tdi won't shut fully, unless I adjust the striker plate inwards and really slam the door hard. Something is stopping it closing fully and I think the front edge of the door is set too far inwards and is pressing too much on the seal (which is quite new). It has new...

Try some Back-to-Black bumper-cleaner type stuff on the grille and headlight surrounds. Worked great on mine and saves painting them
