Well, £40k minus what you could sell the Defender for at the end of it....likely around £15-20k if looked after.
Still cheaper obviously to keep your old Disco. l thought long and hard before selling my 2005 Defender and buying the new one but being in business and using the vehicle all day...

The figures don't have to be that bad.
Under £40k for mine after l put it through my business.
While it won't hold its value like an old Defender, looking for example at the Discovery 4 values it will probably still be worth £20,000 in 10 years if l look after it.
-
That must be the best series 3 in the world.
But £40,000 for a Defender Hard Top, can they really be worth that much? Wow.
lf you bought it you'd have to store it in a barn and only take it to shows, or you'd wipe £25,000 off the value after a couple years regular use.

The ULEZ was never going to be scrapped. l am still waiting to see what happens with the Manchester one.

After ten months is there no contact at all from them about your Range Rover? Can you go to the premises to have a look around. What was the last communication you had, and how long ago.
What happens if you call them on the phone number?

I very much doubt ULEZ will be scrapped. There's a small chance the proposed expansion will be canned, but l will be surprised if that happens.
Whoever says they are going to do it will certainly get a load of votes. But once in power they've got to actually do it, and that's not a given.

Put it on Ebay as an auction with a reserve (the lowest you'll take for it) and see what happens.
You never know, there may be someone who wants one like this and it will sell.
If not, you've lost nothing except Ebay's listing fee.

Prices have fallen generally for Land Rovers round here. There's a lovely TDCi 110 XS Utility for sale locally at £21,000
Last year that would have been in the high 20's.
The problem is the LEZ. In Sheffield it would cost you £10 every time you took it off your drive.
There's one in Leeds as...

l've been watching (and sometimes bidding!) on Ebay mainly for TDCi 110's
Most remain unsold as they seem to have high reserve prices. lt may be due to some dealers still advertising them at high prices, making people think theirs is worth similar.
Some have been on sale on Ebay multiple...

I think that's always been the case with any "classic" vehicle.
People in the concourse classic vehicle world get finicky about the correct screw heads and even the orientation of the screw.
-
What do you mean by "original vehicles" do you mean standard specification with no modifications or original as in pre-Defender (Series 1/2/3)

Prices rose a few years ago and stayed high during lockdown, after that they fell back to more reasonable levels and seem
to have remained static since then.
For instance back in 2018 l bought a very nice TD5 XS SW for £14,000.
l had to sell it during lockdown due to money issues and a local...

He's not been back since but it sounds like as above, something wasn't put back after the clutch was replaced
l fitted new glow plugs to my TD5 and after that it ran fine but wouldn't go much above 40mph.
lt seemed like the turbo wasn't working.
l checked and l hadn't reconnected the MAP...

Well, l wouldn't call my new Defender a "bunch of sh*t" it's actually an awesome vehicle both on and off road.
Had no issues with it either. And it's nothing like a Discovery to drive.
I agree that Land Rover threw away their heritage when they stopped making the old Defender. They should have...
