Auto gearbox change of oil and filter

That was my point, I will buy the Comma oil again :) The assumption is that it's a TD5 auto as the thread is tagged "disco 2" and I am probably wrong about the service intervals, I always over service anyway.

Auto gearbox change of oil and filter

I did mine last year and I used Genuine LR stuff it was expensive but I figured that as you only do it every 90,000 miles ish then it was worth it...... 4 mths later she blow a cooling hose and dumped all that expensive oil all over the road, so I used cheaper Comma fluid to fill the box up...

    re mapping

Deek, I have never used them but I got my disco from a garage in Edinburgh and they put it to them to have the cylinder head gasket changed before I picked it up. And 6 weeks ago I had to put a new cylinder head on as they had reused the old head bolts which worked loose and allowed the head to...

    td5 discovery

It sounds like the cooling system is being pressurised by the exhaust gasses, so it will probably need the head gasket replaced.

    Td5 overheating

If its got pressure when you loosen the cap when it's cold then I would suggest a head problem of some sort . If you open the cap to ensure their is no pressure when she is cold, then go for a run and get her up to temp and let her cool properly say overnight, if you have additional pressure...

    Problem with cooling system

Well the story continues, after the HG had been changed she still overheated on the motorway while she was towing the caravan :-( RAC recovered her to my local LDS & my fantastic sister-in-law lent us her car so we could still go on holiday :-). So the head is knackered, so new one ordered...

    Problem with cooling system

Well she is ready now :):) Apart from the head bolts being loose, the LDS in Edinburgh had also left part of the plastic dowel in the block and just put the new steel dowel on top which was also preventing the head from sealing against the block properly, oh and the bolts were several MM longer...

    Problem with cooling system

Well hopefully she will be back tomorrow :-) long story short When I got the car in April last year, the HG was done by a LDS in Edinburgh?? I found the invoice in some paperwork, no head bolts on invoice!!!! So I now have the situation that I have to have the HG replaced 15 months later because...

    Problem with cooling system

Ok so it's not the cap :( the new gasket and head bolts arrive tomorrow so hopefully get her back on Wednesday. I really hope it's just the gasket and not the head.

    Problem with cooling system

I think that the cap is OK?? I went for a run and the cap was hissing and misting a little, but when I loosened it the pressure was released in one go and if it hadn't been for the coolant loss I would have been scalded for sure. so I am thinking the the hissing from the cap is due to an excess...
