Hi sorry to leap in. I drive a '97 300tdi towing a tipping trailer daily. Slightly overloaded the trailer the other day had 3840kg plus a trailer at 675kg. Big mistake, anything over 30mph downright dangerous. However regularly tow at 2800kg total weight with no problems. H/d springs needed...

For all suffers of the problem. Replaced bulb holder above exhaust as it was shorted- condensation caused by exhaust I think! Still no joy. So traced the problem to lighting stalk so replaced with new. Problem sorted, thanks to Sadari Engineering for your help, parts and patience.

I've got exactly the same problem. Just changed the fuse and it blew. The investigation starts tomorrow so will let you know what I find. Have you any ideas on location of the short?

I got the old relay terminal out but relay still clicking when any elec item used. Got relay from a scrapper and clicking stopped but indicators now flashing double speed,hazards at correct speed. Trailer lights ok and have fitted new 7 pin connector. Confused. I am!!!
