4 screws along the bottom edge all nearer to the latch side. You have to feel for them, and they are angled downwards. Once unscrewed pull the bottom of the card until it's free, then lift up and over the hooks on the top of the door.

Hi - I need to tackle a similar issue myself, any updates you get would be appreciated however can you tell me how you removed the tailgate interior door card for access to the internals with the door stuck shut please? Mine is 2004 facelift...

That’s great thanks but did you need to remove the door trim panel first - that’s my problem as door won’t open & all I read is the 4 screws that secure the tailgate door panel are under the door so can’t get to them, did you destroy the inner...

I would try again with engine running, extra voltage may get it open. Push the door inwards to relieve any pressure on the latch before trying to open. Else it a case of getting door card off which is on here somewhere.

Hi all, left the car for a couple of days then needed it to move some stuff, guess what - the tailgate door will not open. Use the handle & the window drops as normal but the door doesn’t open, there is a slight sound like it’s trying to do...

Hi, two things that gave me intermittent MIL light on my TD4 were collapsing intercooler pipe, no splits or anything, looked fine, just collapsing under acceleration but not always & the MAF sensor again not every time I drove it until it failed...

Any updates on this would be great as mine does the same - comes on randomly & goes off randomly, can’t see any fault codes, sometimes will go into limp mode when light comes on & sometimes not

No changes needed, it's generally good for the life of the engine.

Looking in the rave manual there is no service/change interval for the TD4 timing chain (not sure what bmw recommend for their M47 engine) so unless you can hear or know the chain is rattling I wouldn't worry, mine has done 180,000 without any...
