    2.25 no start

When I suspected my carb was gummed up I was able to get the engine to fire just by turning it over and spraying Easy Start directly through the carb air intake. That will at least tell you if it's spark / timing issue. Did you empty out the fuel tank and give it bit of a flush out? New fuel...

    Recovery points

Are we all talking about the same sort of thing? I think the point is that you wouldn't do the same with a static rope / chain / strap. My understanding has always been that when used properly you take up the slack and then gently increase force until the stuck vehicle frees. Giving the vehicle...

Series 3 Weber Carb and choke lever on steering column

I'm not familiar with the Weber carb, but my series 3 2.25 has an SU carb and a cable that runs through the bulkhead and up to the steering column choke pull and mechanically it's very simple. The SU carb has a return spring on the choke and the cable is pull only, although you can get push/pull...

    Upgrading to halogen headlights?

I have a set of Wipac halogen headlamps on my 109. I'm actually thinking about getting a set of full led headlamps such as the Sunpie on Amazon. There seem to be a lot of these cheaper led options (compared to the mega bucks ones) and it's hard to tell if they're worth the money, however I did...

Stood for 20 yrs - 109 series 3 resto thread.

If the red light isn't the oil pressure warning then it's the charge light which is telling you that the alternator isn't working. There must be an owners manual online somewhere - well worth having, full of genuinely useful info (not like modern manuals at all).

    Ear defenders

Google Surefire EP4 or EP3 earplugs. Should be around the £15 mark. Bit pricey compared to Moldex reusable at circa £3 a pair. I use the moldex ones with power tools - just the standard washable rubber plugs that you shove in your ears. Cheap and work, but you can't hear a thing. The Surefires...

Stood for 20 yrs - 109 series 3 resto thread.

I'm a bit late to the thread, but I have an '82 County 109 which also has a low mounted rear wheel carrier which is as it came from the factory, so as not to obscure rear visibility I believe. My dad did tow a boat with it, and the options at the time were to mount the spare wheel on the bonnet...

    Radials on a series 3

I thought it was inadvisable to fit tubeless onto the old rims because they don't have the same profile as the newer wheels to hold the bead of the tyres on? Or does it make no difference in practice?

Weed / Creasote sprayer for Gearbox oils ??????

I tried using an old cheapo garden sprayer for diff oil, and it took en eternity. To be fair the temperature was close to freezing, and the oil was not prewarmed (been in the shed). 85w-140 being pushed through a very small hose barely dribbled in. I reckon a bucket of hot water and a sprayer...

    Radiator muff

Being bit of a cheapskate I made a rad muff up using two tesco rubber car floor mats (£1.29 each) and some zip ties. Didn't cost much.

Game Carriers (for deer or boar)

I've used a bak-rak on the tow ball for carrying stuff. bags, tow-ball mounted luggage, boxes, luggage, clam-shell bag, carrier, holiday luggage, waterproof bag They're rating it at 100kg, but I'm guessing that's to tie in with general towbar ratings. Their website used to detail dynamic...

    2.25 petrol any good

As has been covered above: Surprisingly quiet engines, reliable, good parts availability, and will get you 20mpg or thereabouts in real world driving (pootling along, enoying the view). Don't expect to keep up with motorway speeds. 80mph may be possible with an overdrive and tuning, but...

    clutch stuck on

Check if there's any fluid in it. When my series 3 stands for a while it needs topping up, a good few pumps on the pedal and she starts to work again. I've no doubt it needs a proper looking at, but it's been working like this for about 10 years!

    landy car boot fair

I went along last year and was rather disappointed. Didn't seem nearly as busy as photo's I had seen of the event in previous years. Figured it was quiet because of the general lack of cash. Then again I did get a couple of useful bits, so it was worth going.:)

    Paint advice wanted

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Funnily enough I Googled POR15 paint looking for a bit of info not relating to this thread, and I got a result from the POR15 website that was a steering wheel painting kit! Didn't get into looking at it in detail mind, but thought I might as well mention it.
