jimmacD posted the thread P38 Nanocom neebie! in Range Rover.
Hiya Peeps! I have managed to talk a local into popping around on Sunday with his Nanocom tool. He, unfortunately knows as little as I do about what can and can't be done with Nanocom. I have watched a few black box solution vids on Youtube so...

Hiya peeps! Ongoing resto P38, mechanically looking good so now moving on to the aesthetics. My wood steering wheel has the usual worn and torn leather as expected of an old P38. Can anyone recommend a refurb person/company or DIY and costs?

Going to chuck a day at the old gal next week, need to sort a mystery suspension noise of Wifey's car and my 300c needs some love as the lift pump is making an orrible racket, unlike LR owners, Chrysler bobs seem to know feck all about their cars...

1750 rpm in the manual, although I have to admit the auto is way more sluggish.

My previous P38 have either been petrol or manual diesels so hard to gauge if current P38 has an issue or that's just they way they are unless you tune them? Will take me back to my VW camper days. I have two wheels for going fast and tend to...

For A quick get away on the diesel auto certainly needs a heavy foot and about 2500 rpm. However it should do a lot more than 70mph, at last 80mph. As I said, you need to check the EDC coolant sensor and also the idle setting with diagnostics...

Do not touch the top of the pump! Fuel idle can be changed with diagnotics but shouldn't be: it is only hiding other issues. Some thoughts to check: MAP pipe dislodged or blocked. MAF acting up if it has one. Intercooler blocked. Lift pump...

Hi, can't see any hot start mod in the engine bay, usual tell is glow plug light on hot start. Had one on my last diesel, removed it and got the FIP timed was great after that. The 4-5 figure was referred to in an Youtube vid where the chap had...

Yep, at temp when checked. Is this the reading which ideally should be between 4 and 5 mg/s?

I haven't touched the FIP, seen a YT vid where chap had power issues, loosened the top of FIP and tapperty tapped back to reduce the flow from 22-23 mg/s to between 4 and 5.

Hi, did you ever get an answer to whether 8-9 mg/stroke was too high a fuel rate? Started looking through this post but gave up after page 6. On YT chap recons it should be between 4-5 mg? My idle is at 950 and car feels slightly underpowered...

Did think about blanking it off. Did that on my FIAT 1.9 and it kept everything nice and clean, no nasty thick gloop pretending to be engine oil.

Take the vacuum pipe off the EGR valve and block the rubber pipe with an M5 screw thus disabling EGR. Easy to put back for the MOT if needed. Saves all that gunk getting into the manifold.

Took pipe off with engine running and no change? I intend to take the plastic inlet off to complete replacement of leak off pipes due to a slight trickle of diesel near cylinders 5 and 6, might do the glow plugs at the same time for "****s and...

Using Icarsoft, flow rate is higher than spec, not taking top off but loosening to move pump back and adjust the flow.

They are all compatible, but don't get one off a jap innit as they are a different frequency. The green dot ones are supposed to be better at not receiving bogus signals. But you need to check inside to make sure someone hasn't put a green for on...

I would recommend Marty's filter, (Have one in both my P38's) so you can use any receiver, but make sure you get the 433Mhz receiver. There are lots of eBay ads for the Gen3, but many are fake & have the older PCB. Marty has moved to NZ, but...

There are 3 versions of the RF receiver see photo, all work but only the final version is proof against spurious signals. Early types can be used with Marty's filter or a second RF receiver & Fob to switch the P38 receiver off and on.

Yerp, that's my feeling on the subject. Some might say it's not the proper way but it is how the P38 should have been designed and most owners have done at least one modification... cooling, electrics, tunning, suspension.... etc.. etc.. so it is...
