    Whine from autobox

Hi all I've always found answers from you guys when I don't know so here goes. 1995 Disc 300 TDI auto VM 4 speed. Went into MOT man, bit of welding on floor pan nothing terminal. 10 years in Japan has helped. Had a new de- cat down pipe fitted as needed, it now makes a strange sound- it did...

    300tdi with 180,000 miles

Hi. Mine is 1995 Defender 110 TDI, current milage 165,000. burns no oil and still pulls like a train. Was owned by forestry Comission for first 5 years. Has always had oil and filter changes done on the button. This, I beleive is the key to long life. Also try to pre empt any problems by fixing...

    Brake improvements?

Yes have to agree narrow section tyres exert more pressure down on the road. Pressure = force/area and all that. So should be less likely to aquaplane. My 1995 110 300tdi runs tubed rims with 7.5 x 16 security mud terrain tyres. In the dry on road, they're fine. In the wet just need to remember...

    Tubular Winch Bumper

I went for the shadow tubular. Fitted it myself. Been on three years, still looks like new. Bought champion 8500lb winch at same time, got a bit of discount First Four. They also know their stuff and will advise on the right fitment, winch etc. Fitting involved cutting a small slot out of the...

Can a DSE or 300TDi run on veggie oil?

My local Asian shop has fresh oil in 20 litre drums for £20.00 quid a pop, so saving about 40p per litre. I run my 300TDI on 50/50 Derv/Veg. Not noticed any difference in performance or economy.

    Hot passengers...

My 1995 Defender 110's got this, only other way round, drivers side warm(ish), passenger side cold. Checked all pipes ok. Had a p gasket problem a while back. Once changed the old rusty coolent was replaced. I'm thinkin that some of the "crud" might be blockin the matrix. Plan to back flush it...

    Chassis underseal.

Yep been there myself 2 weeks ago. First time using the stuff at home. Put the pressure tin in a saucepan of water on the cooker and fired up the gas. Nipped back outside to continue wire brushing the chassis, came back into kitchen after only to be presented with...a wax oiled kitchen! Bloody...

Can a DSE or 300TDi run on veggie oil?

Sorry all was meaning to say 110 Defender with 162,000 started at minus 4 on 50/50 svo diesel no worries. I would not recommend anyone to try this, my personal choice. If it fails I pay, but will keep you all up to date. That said, all my reasearch says ok at 50/50.

Can a DSE or 300TDi run on veggie oil?

Hi I do the same mix up in 20 litre tins, then pour in. I only use new SVO oil in mine, so use the tins it comes in to mix. I started with 10% SVO and gradually increased to 50%. SVO is £1.00 per litre, so saving 35 pence over pump prices we pay here. I would advise to gradually increase...

Can a DSE or 300TDi run on veggie oil?

Hi, I've just started using 50/50 (Veg/Derv) mix in my Defender 300tdi. So far so good. Got down to minus 4 last night, started fine. If anything the old girl seems to run smoother. So having found a mix ratio that its happy on I'll stay with it. I will monitor filter and sooting, but the way...
