It is just a thought I hope doesn't turn into a nightmare. I have never heard of belts failing due to using new old stock. Yes failures due to the gubbins braking or old belts waring down the earliest I heard of in a Freelander being 185,000 miles.
The cost of two new belts will be say around...

This Summer I plan to replace both my Timing and Aux Belts and all the gubbins. I have brand new ones but they are five maybe six years old and have been in a box in the shed for that time.
May be a silly question but if the service spec says change every 7 years does that mean from the time...

Myself, I would have one of those expensive auto locksmiths, but cheaper than a dealer, see if they can do anything with your new fobs. or at least first try a hard reset as a straw clutching exercise.

My Gap does not reprogram fobs, I contacted the makers who told me they are doing an update, still waiting four years later.
My AP 200 the white one does the reprogramming of the fobs.
