Mine is a 1999. It had already suffered from the usual problems (oil at ECU, rear chassis rust and 3 amigos) which have been fixed. I’m hoping there isn’t much else left to go wrong (i can hear you all laughing).

Everyone knows about the bolt that holds on the TD5 oil pump pully in the sump. It can come loose and fall which means zero oil pressure.
This just happened to me. My D2 has nearly 150k miles. I had been told by many people that it has probably been sorted by now and it is likely the bolt has...

Where a wire connects to the starter
-
It could just be a loose connection. My starter had the exact same symptoms over a year ago. I booked it into my local independent LR specialist to fit a new one. Luckily they are honest and told me the connections just needed cleaning and tightening and just charged me a tenner. It has worked...

Hmmmm.. I just checked it again after having done 90 miles today. No faults logged.
I deleted the EGR a couple of years ago with a blanking kit.
I wonder if pulling (and then reconnecting) loom connectors helped to fix it?
I think all I can do is monitor the ECU plug as you suggest and check for...

No. As I mentioned in my original post above, I plug the diagnostic in every 2 weeks regularly. They weren't there two weeks ago.

I have cleared all the DTCs. I have to drive to Manchester and back tomorrow...so I will check it again after about 90 miles of mostly motorway driving and see if anything new is logged.
-
I just checked now....but the plugs are clean. Not a spec of oil. The loom was replaced a couple of years ago.

Hi folks
I have an old Hawkeye diagnostic. I tend to connect it to my Disco 2 TD5 every couple of weeks just to check if any faults (DTCs) have appeared (as a preventative measure).
Today, I decided to connect it as the 'sound' the engine was making seemed slightly unusual. Despite this the...

I have the most bog-standard unmodified D2 TD5 there is. It is 1999 on the original engine and box and gives me 32 - 33 mpg. I can go offroading in it without bolting on loads of extras, because it is already designed to do it. I don't see the point of tuning the engine as it sits in a...

All I know...is that my 10P engine ran like a dog - diagnostic shows MAF was knackered. I fitted an OEM unit and the car ran a hundred times better...better MPG and better acceleration and top-end performance etc.

Very nice bit of kit. Well done for creating it.

I just bought a Hawkeye on eBay for £151. There are often a few secondhand ones for sale....like this one now...and this one too

I don't tow - but I am getting between 33 - 35 MPG commuting via motorway every day (500 miles a week). If you are getting a figure in the 30s whilst towing, I think you are doing very well (I usually cruise at around 60MPH in 5th).

I didn't know there was a fuel cut-off switch. Where is it please (in case I end up in the same situation)?
