Its strange, I wonder if cutting the wire to the sensor would have worked?

Hurrah! ITS FIXED!!:) It was the fuel temperature sensor. The guy bypassed the fuel temperature sensor on the slate coloured wire just as it goes into the ecu with a resistor and the car worked as it should, so he replaced the fuel temperature sensor. Its fantastic, it pulls harder...

Engine temp was showing about 85deg, after 20min driving. I was toying with the idea of braking the car yesterday, but now I'm determined to find out what the problem is. Im not being beaten by it!

Ok I have left it with the guy. He had p38 looms and ECU's dotted all over the place. I stood with him for an hour or so and all we could find was the fuel temp sensor was showing 8deg, much too low. He also said that he hadn't seen this problem before, so I have left it with him.

I switched on the Air-con, sorry I forgot to put that. I have found a friend of a friend that has a dealer diagnostic computer that will have a look at it today. One thing thats confusing me is, why doesn't it do it when the engine is cold? You have to be driving for at least 15min...

What tells the engine to up the revs when the ancillaries come on, air-con and alternator? But if it was just that it wouldn't stop the accelerator from working would it?

Just given them a ring and they haven't had chance to have another look yet. They might get chance this afternoon. I hope I get it back before the snow, or before fuel hits £4 a litre. I'm going to to have a word with them about what you have said, thanks for the ongoing help!

Just a quick update: LRS still have it and can't find the problem. :(
