When the gear lever is moved in what would be 1st to 2nd to3rd as you look down behind Gearbox the linkage is moving selector arm from side to side. The gear stick feels like its move from 1 to 4 with 4 being hard but 5th is a no go will not go...

Yes clutch down engine running you can move gear stick all through gears but nought happens clutch up stays in gear stays stuck in gear

could a worn linkage between gear lever cause difficult gear change? ending up with a gear stick that moves through the gears but the car stays locked in possibly 3rd 4th or 5th when in neutral position when you let the clutch pedal up?

I will try fitting again, one thing a guy from landrover supplies reckons i should have a switch number XKB000010 but it was superseded by XKB500120 with wiring plug adaptor ymQ503280 Have you ever heard of this?
