Just noticed today that when the car is playing up the sound from the fuel pump is different to normal, instead of a constant hum its like a louder than normal pulsing hum if that makes sense, Gaz

could it possibly be fuel pump or fuel filter blocked?

no signs at all of overheating, no water or oil loss, engine sounds just like normal when trying to restart, may be just me and have nothing to do with it but im sure the fuel pump sounds a bit more noticeable than normal, just a little louder maybe but not a lot

hiya whilst driving the freelander today it decided to cut out on me so after dipping the clutch and rolling to a stop the engine was just about still running at idle but on the verge of dying so let it idle and settle for a minute or so, blipped the throttle a couple times and it seemed fine...

as an extra question, what effect would i expect if the cam belt timing was one tooth out on both cams?

it looks like replace and try till i find the problem then, is your list in order of most likely or is just better to try cheapest first and work upwards? gaz

hi all again when driving the 1.8 petrol freelander 1999 at say a constant speed of 20mph and trying to hold it at that speed on flat road it feels as if the car is trying to stop and go, bit hard to explain really and it is not really noticeable but kind of like when your driving an old mini...

by pickup ring i am referring to the plastic ring that is wrapped around the ignition barrel and normally picks up the signal from a chipped key being inserted, as the freelander has a solid plastic key with no chip i am assuming that the chip must be in the fob and has to be close to the barrel...

Any idea if a second hand one can be re-programmed or is it a new one from the dealers that I would need? Could it possibly not be the pick-up ring that's gone funny?

hi its flat with a split and swivels, the key fob is seperate and has two buttons, im guessing that the transponder is in the fob as the key looks to thin and appears solid, its the fob that i hold right next to the plastic pickup ring that seems to make it start, when its just hanging on the...

hi bit of an update now, got time to have a look today and it seems like an immobilser problem, after a bit of head scratching and with the steering cowling removed i have noticed that if i hold the key fob close to the pickup ring that wraps around the ignition barrel then it seems to start...

hi all Another small problem with the freelander, its a 1.8 k series 99 plate 5 door, problem is intermitant but slowly getting more regular, turn the ignition key to 1st click radio, clock etc, 2nd click all the dash light etc as usual, 3rd (starting position) nothing, after 3 to 5 attempts...

hi my freelander has a very low bite point on the clutch and according to the missus is very difficult to get into gear sometimes and also she reckons the pedal has even stuck down a few times, does anybody know what could cause this? its a freelander 1,8 petrol on a v plate cheers
