    Slow to respond rev counter

You're lucky Adrian, I once had an Alfasud where the rev counter jumped from 0 to 7000 revs in time with the left turn indicator's flashing ..... now them's electrics for you!

    Disco wheels and tyres

My Disco (1997 Tdi) has 205/80x16s on its original standard steel wheels. I think the alloys had 235/70x16s as standard. Mine has road-biaised Pirelli Scorpion S/T tyres but any full profile 205 tyre should be fine on the steel rims - I think Defender rims are a straight fit on a Disco 1.

3 diagonal seat belts in back seats???

Louise, when I bought my Disco (1997 TDi 5 door) it had an odd assortment of seat-belt webbing straps in the boot which, to my delight, I subsequently discovered attached to a ring that had been fitted into the boot floor just inside the centre of the rear door opening. There is a kind of steel...

    Battery for 2.5 TDI

Treworgey, that would be about the same colour as clotted cream then ... in fact, it probably IS clotted cream ... :)

Uncle sadly died - need help with selling his disco

"Your" Disco is a 300TDi. I've bought stuff from the eBay seller you have posted that link to, and he's reliable and sells good products, so I would have thought his solution will work. Good luck!

What wheels fit a 1995 tdI???

What are you going to use it for? Best decide what sort of tyres you want and then go to UK tyres online: Blackcircles.co.uk discount tyre specialist or somewhere similar, order them and get them to come and fit them to the car before you drive home. That way you put the cost of the trailer...

    very sluggish.!!!!!

As a couple of you say, the 300TDi is no sportscar, but mine bowls along pretty well up to about 75 mph, and if you keep it between 2000 and 3500 revs it sails up anything around here - and the Peak District is, well, peaky ... Mine has done 167K miles but been well looked after and has had new...

Buxton & District LR Club Days 24/25 Aug

I'm going to get my Disco dirty on Monday with the Buxton & District LR Club at their offroading day. If any of you are there look out for my bog standard, bog green Disco P823 GJM and say g'day. I'll be the one that's stuck in a bog. Cheers, Gavin Web link: BADLRC Public Events "Buxton &...

Fixing the springs in the door locks

Thanks everyone, sounds like a job for a sunny afternoon, not something to do in a hurry between rain showers. I have now received the springs - I too got them from eBay, P Senior Trading, eBay shop phillipstuart33 - but you can buy direct from his web site which is Welcome to...

Fixing the springs in the door locks

My car has the classic door-lock spring weakness on the driver's door and the back door. I've ordered the little curly springs to fix them. The doors all unlock OK on the central locking but you have to put the key in and give it an extra twist on those two doors for them to open. Is it...

    anyone with 235 85 16s

Disco Tire Fitting Guide The link above was posted by Redhand some time back and has all the info you could want on Disco tyre fittings. According to that, you'll need to trim the rear arches and front bumper end-caps for the them to fit.

Whats best to prevent rust/protect chassis

Old engine oil is the business! Anyone who is old enough to have grown up on a string of crapulous BMC Minis will tell you that they never rotted at the front because the oil leaked out of the seals (and anywhere else on an A-series) onto the driveshafts and was flicked all over the front...

    Air Con

I once put a curry on the dashboard with the heater on full to keep it warm on the way home. It leaked into the air vents and the car stank of curry every time you turned the heater on for years afterwards ...

    Traitor........im so sorry.....

When I saw 740 I thought you were talking Volvos .... Best thing I ever had for scaring the children at the traffic lights was a series 1 Maserati Quattroporte. 4.7 litre V8 and in a body that looked like a Rolls but boy did that thing shift, and what a great noise to go with it. Did 11 mpg...
