Hello, it's been a while since I've posted but I've still got my Landy!
I've got a 2.25 engine but run a DMTL weber with 2.5 manifolds and a Steve Parker custom wider-bore exhaust. This has lasted well but the exhaust has broken after about 10 years - so not a bad innings.
I came to take it...

Thanks both,
I think I'll give them a go. I've thought about getting somebody else to weld it but there would still be the issue of making it fit (there's a lot needs doing) and then the fact that it wouldn't be galved.

I've been away from the forum for a couple of years (small child and no garage time) but I want to finish of my 109 project. One of the big sticking points has been the bulkhead - I've made a start on welding up an old one but its a bit of a Frankenstein's cock and I'm not enjoying it so I'm...

Did you get any of that in writing? I've not restamped my chassis as I was told that I shouldn't but instead keep proof of destruction of the old chassis and a receipt from Richards...

I got the radiator plugs and they fitted perfectly! Now a slightly bigger problem. In "tapping out" the output shaft it appears I may have been a bit over-exuberant (it was a right c**t to get out) and I've buggered the front-end of it...new one ordered (what's another £100 anyway) and looking...

Make you wonder, did they change to straight cut at some point and if so why use the same part number!?! Thanks to your pointer I've got some ordered.
Thanks
Dom

Thanks Blackburn
I thought I was going to have to get access to a lathe! I completely buggered the old one getting it out then stupidly threw it away!

Well I'm almost there, I ended up spending a bit more time and a lot more money on this than I'd first bargained. I've not had as much Landy time recently, having a toddler around the house takes up a lot of time and she's pigging useless as an assistant in the garage...complains less than the...

Clutch release bearing. Also, had a similar noise when the input flange nut on the rear diff had undone itself.
-
Do you get any bother with the carb freezing/taking ages to come out of choke after getting rid of the exhaust manifold heat-up?
-
As a cheaper alternative you could go for rangerover diffs. As others have said though a 2.25 diesel will likely struggle with those. A petrol in good order should be up to the job though.

I've never had a worn/broken cable make it read over though it's worth a try.
If not these lads do refurbs/rebuilds (and cables) at reasonable prices http://www.speedycables.com/

On my 2.25 with 2.5 manifold and the parker exhaust worked well...for a while. Well made and a lot heavier than normal. I couldn't swear that it was any quicker but sounded nicer and quieter, for a while. Then when changing gear on the motorway it let out a pop and has sounded like a wet fart...

No timing chain? I think you need to find a different garage!

It might be the clutch release bearing on its way...mine used to rattle and I was told it would soon die. It lasted over 20k miles before I got round to changing the clutch though.
