Yes, I guess I do.
I have sold mine and am 4wd less at the moment.
main reasons:=
Extortionate road tax
Constant 'worry' about the VCU (mine was always fine!)
MPG. With some money spent on a Synergy, EGR bypass and new hoses I managed just over 30mpg
Rear door/window gremlins
So...

Sold it!!
My Hippo didn't get anywhere enough use to justify the running costs.
Sticking around though to see what you guys are up to.
I'd like to thank everyone for all the superb advice I have received on this forum.

TD4 HSE with Sunroof and full leather.

Is that right?
So, say the vehicle can tow 2000kg. The trailer unladen is 1300kg and plated to 2600kg. If towed unladen or with less than 700kg then legal - despite what the trailer plate says? Police would have to take me to a weigh-bridge if they thought the trailer overall was over 2000kg?

Thanks. Appreciate the clarification
Cheers

My handbook says Max Trailer weight is 2000kg
My trailer is 1300kg empty and 2600 kg max loaded.
If I read this thread correctly I am committing an offence even if I tow the trailer empty as the possible max is 2600kg?
Is that right? Or can I legally tow a load of 700kg?

A little puff of blue smoke on start-up after not having been started for a few days.

I think blue. there is not much but enough to notice.
I'll get my Mrs to start it one morning whilst I see what happens

I've noticed a bit of blue smoke on start-up too
06 TD4 Auto
I have used 2 stroke oil and/or redex but ran out and didn't put any in the last tank full.

Fitted a Synergy 2e to my 06 TD4 Auto.
Set it for mpg not torque and it has significantly improved mileage. I fitted a Pierburgh maf sensor too.
The Synergy 2a adds more power if you want it.The main reason I chose the 2e was because the insurance company was not interested in it.

Hi
I use manual when it's cold as mine does not change up very early. Smooth enough but holds lower gears for too long in my opinion.
After a couple of miles all is ok

I went for the 2e and get an average 30mpg across town/towing/motorway/ I suspect if I stayed at 65mph on a long run I'd get better mpg but I have not had a chance to try that.
That's on an '06 TDI auto.
I use the manual gear change when it's cold as I can get the revs down sooner than waiting...

Me too July 2006. £475 a year VED. Bollocks!

I have a Synergy 2e.
It has improved the overall mpg significantly. I have fitted the Pierburgh MAF.
I have not played around with the settings, just left it on 7 IIRC.
Would I buy another?......absolutely & I'd never try a cheap fleabay jobbie for the life of me.

All AOK.
Went for 39psi and towed well.
I was quite surprised how heavy the van felt along the A40 which is up and down hill, but when we got onto the M5 it towed at 55 mph no trouble at all.
The comments above about caravan tyres are well made. I check mine quite regularly.
The Freelander...
