had an intermittant miss once, turned out to be a plug. checked everything and couldnt find anything wrong. put a new set of ngks in and she was sweet again.

you dont want to be starting a tdi on veg. on start up some fuel will bypass the rings and find its way into the sump. diesel will just evaporate off, but veg oil will start filling your sump up. veg oil doesnt mix with mineral sump oil and can turn very gloopy causing all sorts of problems...
