but last week a very loud knocking noise started which only disappeared when pressing the clutch it kinda sounded like the engine was tapping and working too hard but like I said the noise stopped when pressing clutch, the whirring noise is only when in 1st or reverse when foot is on clutch

it does drive ok and it is when the foot is on the clutch ie setting off in 1st or reversing. It makes a very loud noise when put into 5th gear

there is a problem when changing down gears when engine is warm its a bit stiff!!

the day I picked the car up it was slipping and losing power we took it back they 'supposedly' changed the clutch. As soon as they changed the clutch the noise started. it whines on the gearbox when in gear but only intermittently or when reversing it was always there! The warranty company said...

it was making a very loud whirring noise intermittently but I took it back 4 times and they said they couldnt hear anything!! Im in Bradford so think the nearest one to me is Farnells??

Thanks for the reply....but what Im asking is do I have any comeback to the original garage I bought from?? Can I prove that when he changed the clutch he will have known the gearbox was knackered??

I bought a Disco 2 and collected it on the 11th May, the day after I rang them up and told them there was a problem with the clutch.....it was booked in for a new clutch. When the clutch was fitted it (or something else) started making a whirring noise so the car then went back a further 3 times...

Hi all I have Disco 2 TD5 7 seater and I would like to know if its possible to remove the rear seats which are in the boot? If so any help as to how is appreciated! Thanks Vicki

will it definately need a new dual mass flywheel?? they probably wont tell me if it does just say they will do the clutch most likely

Hi Guys New member and new disco 2 owner! I bought a 2002 Discovery TD5 and collected it yesterday 11/05/12 and it does have a warranty on it which says claim limit of £100. However the clutch is slipping and needs replacing should the garage I bought it from do this or will it be repaired...
