Well that coolant leak was coming from the EGR. I pulled it out again and managed to make one good one from two bad ones.
I now have what appears to be an oil leak with oil dripping onto something hot. It looks to be coming from either the...

Looks like you can buy it here. I think I downloaded a a v130 a while back but deleted it. I'll have look around and see if I can find where I got it...
Well I drove it for about 15 miles and had no great dramas. There was a hot, slightly metallic smell when I stopped the car and a quick look under the bonnet revealed a bit of a drip from a coolant hose. It looks like it's dripping onto something...
It does seem to run ok. I'm nervous to take it far from home but I think I'll take it for a run and get my wife to follow me in her car in case the worse happens.
Does it work OK?
Unfortunately later LRs are very good at throwing random codes, many being completely irrelevant.
If it drives ok, I'd be inclined to clear them and run it for a few weeks too see what comes up again.
Because I'd had a DTC relating to glow plugs I took the opportunity to test the plugs while the intake manifold was off. It turns out that they were all dead! I swapped them for my old ones which were all ok. I removed the swirl flaps from the...
Good tip on removing bulkhead, I looked at it and thought should I or shouldn't I. Of course 2 hours into the job and the answer was obviously that I should have! 😁
I imagine the inlet manifold will be pretty bad based on what I've seen. I think...
The EGR is easier to get at if you remove the secondary bulkhead first, which only takes a few minutes. The TB is obviously at fault, if it only moves a few degrees. If it's that dirty, then the inlet manifold is also likely to be full of black...
Those key positions are correct from memory, the routine will instruct you when to start the engine.
I had various problems with V164 (which I used as a 'quick' way of getting rid of the restricted functionality warning) so I've gone back to...
I bit the bullet and replaced the TB and EGR yesterday. The TB was easy but OMG the EGR is such a pain!
When I removed the TB I couldn't believe how much crud there was in there. I thought y old one was a bit scruffy but the one off my "new"...
OK, I finally found air path calibration. I tried using v163 but it didn't show up in the recommendations and I think I know why. Because the car is in Reduced Engine Performance (limp mode) it won't allow air path calibration to be run because...
Just before I start pulling my engine apart can anyone offer any logical reason why my engine could have developed the faults it has at the same time?
After I replaced the engine and got it running I drove the car for a while and it was fine. I...
I'm working my way through the thread looking for a link to v163 though in the early posts @Nodge68 said that v130 had more functionality that later versions I believe.
I'm going to try a different version. I presume the engine needs to be running when the air path calibration is done?
Just for absolute clarification can I confirm the ignition positions:
0 = key out of the slot
1 = key in the slot
2 = key in...
If I do that here are the only options that I see:
Do I need an older version of SDD do you think? Surely there must be a way to do it in v164 but I've had a pretty good look around now and can't see it.
I used to be able to navigate it to the bits I wanted without having to think about it, it's not that many years since I was using on a daily basis but I sometimes have to change the session type two or three times now - BTW, the quickest way to...
I can't remember where it is, and I don't think I use the same version of SDD to you anyway. I seem to remember it's very close to where I found the injector coding screen.
I do actually need to run an air path calibration on mine as I fitted a...
Anything that came on the new engine will need the relevant calibration to be run.
It's best to run an air path calibration on it too, as the new engine will have different air induction characteristics to the old one.
Wow! Finally got SDD working. After buying and returning 3 Windows laptops from Ebay  (the first came without the advertised PSU, the second was wildly different spec to what was advertised and the third was advertised with Win10 and an...
I've just bought myself a Lenovo laptop, my first Windows machine in 25 years! I've been a Mac user for so long that I'm very rusty on Windows. It seems I've fallen at the first hurdle as I can't create a bootable Win7 installation USB stick...
Just for completion and hopefully others could find it helpful if changing the EGR valve.
Quick recap - EGR Valve replaced after DTC errors – P0405 & P0403 + Restricted Performance. Both Restricted Performance and DTC errors – P0405 & P0403 went...
The EGR assembly was all supplied with the new engine.
The TB could be something as daft as me forgetting to connect the plug to it?? I’ll have a look when I get home.
It would be nice if the glow circuit was a relay as I’ve got all the ones...
The EGR valve actuator isn't functioning, and is stuck open. Was this a replacement with the engine, or the original.
The intake air flow control is referring to the throttle body. It's saying that there's no connection to it, so possibly a...
